The Arctic Ziwei Emperor burst into hearty laughter.
"Fellow Daoist Haotian, I fear you underestimate him. With his strength, do you really think he would be beguiled by this so-called darkness? He ventured out only to seek a remedy that could dispel it. I believe he will return one day."
"I believe he will return sooner or later too. But before he does, I hope you can help me rebuild the Heavenly Court, unite all the mighty figures of the Primordial World, and protect it. I want to do my part as well."
The two clasped hands firmly.
A flicker of mutual respect shone in their eyes.
Haotian felt a surge of excitement. Since that man had already paved the road for him, all he needed to do now was follow it faithfully. The day he united the Primordial World was within sight.
Although he had withstood the Ziwei Emperor's three sword strikes, he still admired him greatly.
Having caught that man's eye, the Ziwei Emperor was certain to become his indispensable right-hand man.
"Brother Ziwei, your strength is extraordinary, and you have the Northern Darkness Palace behind you. If that force could serve me, wouldn't conquering the Primordial World be effortless with the two of us working together?"
The Ziwei Emperor's expression grew solemn.
"Brother Haotian, you must not grow too proud. Though my strength is considerable, I would never dare call myself the strongest in the Primordial World."
"Before this, for instance, I never imagined there could be someone as powerful as you. Apart from the Saints, I have only ever seen the two of you withstand three strikes of my sword with your flesh alone."
"Who can guarantee there are no others even stronger in the Primordial World?"
Haotian pondered briefly.
"You are quite right, Brother Ziwei.
