However, this was not easy to explain.
Without being able to sense the Pangu origin, no one could know whether he was telling the truth.
"Thank you for your guidance, Master Tongtian. I understand."
“Now that the Fierce Beast has emerged and the great tribulation has begun, I wish to head to the front lines and stop its rampage, protecting the beings of the Primordial World.”
"Please, my three masters, watch over me."
“I'm not afraid of anything else, only that Beast Emperor Shen Ni might strike. I'm no match for him.”
“Besides, stopping this great tribulation would bring boundless Merit for protecting the beings of the Primordial World. You three mustn't let this opportunity slip away.”
This opportunity was truly rare and precious.
That was true for everyone.
The Three Pure Ones exchanged glances, utterly speechless. It felt as though everything they had said earlier had been wasted breath.
And now this brat was turning around and persuading them to act. It was almost comical.
With Sect Master Tongtian's temperament, if someone refused to listen to him, he would simply turn around and leave without another word.
But what could he do when this was his own disciple? Not only had Wang Shi done all three of them a great kindness, he would occasionally offer them a spiritual treasure, earn them Merit, or deliver a discourse on the Dao. In short, he always thought of them whenever there were benefits to be had.
Gifts tied the hands, and meals softened the tongue. Wang Shi had them firmly in the palm of his hand.
It seemed they would have to serve as his bodyguards no matter what.
"Fine. Who told you to be our only disciple?"
"Although we know you have strong self-control, there are still things you must be careful about. Whatever you do, don't become consumed by it."
The three masters and their disciple soon arrived at the Pangu Temple.
"What? You Three Pure Ones intend to act personally? Wonderful! But why so suddenly?"
Dijiang was pleasantly surprised.
The Heavenly Court had kept refusing to send reinforcements, saying only that Fierce Beasts were also wreaking havoc above the Nine Heavens.
They had no idea whether that was true.
The Witch Clan alone was like a lone tree struggling to hold up the sky.
Only a few tiny pockets of territory remained across Southern Jambudvipa. Holding out until now had been no easy feat.
Most importantly, Fierce Beasts had appeared elsewhere as well.
Now the entire Witch Clan had to strike out in every direction, facing tremendous danger.
The Three Pure Ones and the other members of the Twelve Ancestral Witches were discussing the current situation.
Wang Shi, however, sought out Houtu.
“Little Tu, have you noticed something strange about these Fierce Beasts?”
Wang Shi spoke meaningfully.
Houtu's eyes lit up.
“You noticed it too? They don't merely possess the Blood Sea Origin within them. After that origin fused with the Fierce Beasts, it activated a special power instead. That power sustains them through endless battles. Even after death, they can keep fighting. It's terrifying.”
Her expression was grave.
“Most importantly, that power feels incredibly familiar to me. Sometimes I can't even resist the urge to absorb this Blood Fiendish Qi, as though it would benefit me.”
Wang Shi's eyes lit up. Houtu truly was different.
Among all the Ancestral Witches, she undoubtedly possessed more of the Pangu bloodline.
Otherwise, she could never have sensed the Pangu origin.
The two of them got along so well that, at times, their hearts almost seemed to be in tune.
Wang Shi had also found a theoretical basis for it. Perhaps their Pangu bloodlines were drawing them toward each other.
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
There was no reason for Wang Shi to feel nothing toward anyone else, yet feel so strongly toward Houtu.
Still, Wang Shi did not reject that feeling. In fact, he rather liked it.
“So you've sensed it too. Bring over a Fierce Beast.”
The two watched the Fierce Beast before them nervously.
It was a Fierce Beast with eight horns, clearly capable of astonishing destruction.
Wang Shi sensed it carefully, then cut an opening directly into its abdomen.
Then he began slowly drawing in its Blood Fiendish Qi.
Houtu was shocked.
"Little Shi, don't! The murderous, chaotic will within that stuff is far too concentrated. It will affect your mind."
Wang Shi smiled faintly.
"It would naturally affect other people's minds, but for the two of us, this Blood Fiendish Qi will only make us stronger."
"Look, hasn't it had no effect on me at all?"
Wang Shi casually exhaled the Blood Fiendish Qi. At least on the surface, there really seemed to be nothing wrong with him.
Houtu was still somewhat doubtful.
Under Wang Shi's guidance, she slowly absorbed the Blood Fiendish Qi.
Before long, they had drained the Fierce Beast dry.
Houtu felt the power within her and spoke in delighted surprise.
"It really works! I can feel my strength steadily increasing."
"Heavens, this power is increasing my origin power."
"This is the power of the earth. My earth power is constantly growing."
She was overjoyed.
Most importantly, by following the method Wang Shi had described, she successfully expelled the lingering Baleful Qi from her body. It had barely affected her at all.
Before long, however, she noticed a problem.
"The Blood Fiendish Qi within a single Fierce Beast is still too little. If we want to improve further, the only way is to keep absorbing it without end."
At that moment, Houtu suddenly understood.
"No wonder you're planning to head to the front lines and take part in the Fierce Beast War. So that's why."
"Although this stuff really is useful, it's hardly something we can bring out into the open. Little Shi, don't let anyone else discover it!"
She looked at Wang Shi with concern.
This method of using Blood Fiendish Qi was good, but others might not accept it.
Wang Shi nodded.
"I'll be careful about that. I certainly won't let anyone gain leverage over me."
"The same goes for you. Be sure to watch yourself. If you notice anything unusual, stop absorbing it."
Just as they were talking,
Dijiang stormed in.
"Daoist Stone Spirit, you rascal! Can you stop wandering into the back of the Pangu Temple? It's very rude."
Despite his words, he moved to shield Houtu behind him.
Faced with this fanatical protector of his little sister, Wang Shi was utterly speechless.
"Little Tu, I'll be heading to the front lines soon. Take care of yourself."
Houtu nodded.
"You too."
Dijiang chased Wang Shi out of the Pangu Temple.
Then the three masters and their disciple set off toward Southern Jambudvipa.
Their journey was anything but peaceful.
They had barely arrived in Eastern Purvavideha when they discovered that Fierce Beasts had appeared there too.
Zhen Yuanzi's Wuzhuang Temple was surrounded and under attack by Fierce Beasts.
These Fierce Beasts were not attacking without reason. They had joined forces with a purpose.
And these Fierce Beasts were no ordinary foes! Their sudden assault was remarkably orderly.
“My disciple, there must be some Wisdom Fierce Beast directing them from behind the scenes.”
Wang Shi studied the vanguard closely and soon spotted that fellow among the beasts.
He had a single eye and was mingling with the horde.
He was a One-Eyed Giant Fierce Beast, with a glimmer of Wisdom about him.
He kept a very low profile, blending into the Fierce Beast horde without drawing any attention to his position.
It seemed this fellow's Wisdom was quite impressive!
"Interesting."
