| Complete original-body transformation | 220 221 222 | Buzhou Mountain rises as a stone giant and defeats Pangu’s tribulation manifestation. Wang Shi completes his human-form transformation; Pangu describes it as granting a seat of true godhood. This is distinct from conventional sainthood, which Wang Shi still discusses pursuing afterward. |
| Sainthood in the flesh recognized | 236 | The attacking Saints identify his attainment after he physically withstands their treasures and breaks the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation. The exact breakthrough chapter is not provided. |
Background / History
Wang Shi was human before transmigrating into Buzhou Mountain. His human origins remain central to his identity and explain his lasting loyalty to the Human Race, even after becoming a mountain spirit 206 243 257.
As the mountain spirit, he discussed the Dao with the Three Pure Ones for hundreds of thousands of years. He knew that Buzhou Mountain was expected to fall during the Witch–Demon Tribulation and feared that its destruction would kill him. Taking form offered a means of escaping that fate, but the mountain’s Heaven-Opening Merit and responsibility for supporting the world obstructed his transformation 1 8.
His explanation that “following” and “defying” Heaven were judgments rather than separate paths enlightened all three brothers, advancing them to peak Daluo Golden Immortal. In gratitude, they guarded his transformation. When transforming the entire mountain proved impossible, they advised him to manifest only partially 1 2.
Laozi initially claimed Wang Shi was their disciple to deter interference from the gathered cultivators. After surviving his tribulation, Wang Shi sincerely accepted all three as masters. Beyond gratitude and friendship, he hoped to change their eventual fates and prevent the Primordial World from declining into a pawn of the Heavenly Dao 2 3 4.
Appearance
- Stone manifestation: Initially emerges as a towering, metallic stone giant 2.
- Variable size: Can enlarge himself into an ancient demon-god-like figure or a giant battlefield form 19 39 175.
- Stone shell: His Quasi-Saint tribulation shatters the stone shell surrounding his body 52.
- Layered defenses: Can form expanding stone bodies around himself; the Myriad Immortals Formation’s attacks break away stone without penetrating his defenses 247.
- Human form: Completes the transformation of his original body into human form after confronting Pangu’s Spirit 220 221.
- Dong Chun incarnation: Temporarily inhabits an ordinary human body in the Three Kingdoms world and loses its right hand to a flying sword 92.
Personality
Wang Shi combines irreverent humor with careful calculation. He flatters his masters when requesting sparring, launches a sneak attack during a formal bow, and invokes their backing to pressure the Ancestral Witches into surrendering blood essence. His exaggeratedly large collection bowl is a deliberate negotiating joke rather than a genuine demand 8 9 15.
Freedom is one of his strongest motivations. His first tribulation releases anger accumulated through ages of confinement, and he later refuses to let the Three Pure Ones place tracking auras inside him. He also rejects cultivation offered in exchange for kneeling and crawling, recognizing humiliation and dependence as instruments of conquest 3 38 87.
He remembers kindness as an obligation. Gifts received after taking form become karmic debts to repay, and he acknowledges help during his later tribulation by promising favors. Even after the Three Pure Ones attack him, he holds back against them and leaves their eventual separation without retaliation 4 54 247 248.
His compassion does not exclude coercion or ruthlessness. He shields strangers fleeing a collapsing world and treats ordinary soldiers informally, but destroys enemies he regards as weapons of slaughter. As the Primordial World’s crisis worsens, he advocates conquest, resource extraction, and enslavement as necessary measures for survival 91 176 257 268.
Abilities & Skills
Pangu Great Dao — Proving Dao by Force
- Strengthens the self and the body rather than following the contemporary method of severing the Three Corpses 4 52.
- Uses overwhelming force to break techniques, formations, and even sealed space 9.
- Later strikes carry law-breaking power capable of damaging the laws of darkness and grievously injuring Dark Deities 168.
- Remains difficult to cultivate with ordinary spiritual energy; unusual energy sources provide much greater gains 38.
- Initially lacks versatility: Tongtian warns that raw strength does not remove the need to learn other Daoist arts 9.
Physical Strength, Speed, and Resilience
- As a Primordial Unity Golden Immortal, withstands almost any Quasi-Saint Daoist art and escapes a spatial blockade established by all three masters 9.
- Endures a Chaos storm through his Pangu bloodline and treasure-like body, tearing an opening through it with his hands 19.
- Repeatedly revives after Purple Thunder Dragons destroy his body during the conclusion of his Quasi-Saint tribulation 54.
- Compresses an already-spreading explosion into a tiny sphere and launches it back into dark lifeforms 161.
- Physically withstands Saint-level attacks and handles the Immortal-Slaying Swords while breaking their formation 236.
Stone Clones and Soul-Splitting Avatars
- Splits into numerous stones, each carrying his true-body aura; neither the Three Pure Ones nor Shen Ni can identify the original 38.
- Sends avatars to distant battlefields while another manifestation cultivates elsewhere 39 50.
- Merges separately cultivated manifestations to increase his cultivation 51.
- Creates both Golden Immortal stone fighters and Quasi-Saint counterparts capable of protecting his disciple 174.
- Repeatedly creates cultivating avatars to continue growing beyond his bottleneck. Laozi later explains that these powerful clones are formed by splitting his soul 175 248.
Spatial Manipulation
- Demonstrates exceptional spatial control against the otherworldly Saint-level Luohu, whose sword formation and spear attacks fail to hit him 47.
- Opens routes through barriers between worlds and becomes increasingly proficient at crossing them 211 257.
- Hides within spatial folds and redirects the Three Pure Ones’ spells into ripples while accumulating power 246 247.
- Uses spatial protection strategically rather than relying on it indefinitely; voluntarily emerges to confront the Myriad Immortals Formation’s full assault 247.
Earth Control and Reconstruction
- Shakes the land around Wuzhuang Temple during a misunderstanding with Hongyun and Zhen Yuanzi 32.
- Locates buried jade essence by touching the ground 88.
- Restores Mount Sumeru, its palaces, and its spiritual energy after his tribulation, adding a vast Spirit-Gathering Array 54.

- Absorbs Chaos Aura and the unusual energy at the ruined Purple Firmament Palace 38 85.
- Devours Fierce Beasts and extracts their Pangu origin; can separate useful power from corrupting blood baleful qi 30 40.
- Must discharge accumulated harmful qi. One release inadvertently creates a lethal Baleful Qi Swamp and kills the marsh’s creatures 40.
- Uses world-origin power to destroy the bacteria-like system lifeforms consuming Taiyi 252.
Dao Instruction and World-Building
- Teaches the Method of Severing the Three Corpses to the Three Pure Ones, enabling their Quasi-Saint breakthroughs. His claim that a mysterious willow tree taught him is an invented cover story 7.
- Guides Nuwa and the Three Pure Ones toward sainthood and becomes renowned for helping cultivators attain it 78 122.
- Helps Dijun create the Demon Realm by supplying resources and weaving together its foundational Great Daos 122.
- Teaches that mastering a path requires understanding its purpose; repeated killing without insight leads toward madness rather than enlightenment 176.
- Studies the Three Books of Heaven, Earth, and Man while seeking an alternative to Houtu sacrificing herself to establish reincarnation 83 94.
Perception and Foreknowledge
- Uses knowledge of expected events to recognize altered history, guide cultivation, and investigate hidden threats 62 93.
- His Eye of the Origin Source exposes Hong’s changing forms and clones 236.
- After receiving the Human Race’s recognition, can perceive people’s inner monologues while traveling through human territory 243 244.
- Foreknowledge is fallible: events increasingly diverge from his expectations, and his early theory about Shen Ni being a transmigrator is only partly correct 39 51.
Supreme Yang Power and Soul Protection
- Burns attacking Dark Deities with supreme yang power and teaches the Starry Sky Emperor how to activate it against darkness 174 184.
- Shennong discovers an inaccessible, hazy radiance protecting Wang Shi’s soul from contamination; its precise source is not identified 128.
- This does not make every encounter with darkness harmless: the Chaos Bead’s dark power nearly overwhelms him before the Pangu Axe intervenes 91 92.
Equipment / Weapons / Items

- Yuanshi — Former master who guards his initial transformation and gives him the Apricot Yellow Banner. Later joins the attacks against Wang Shi and the Myriad Immortals Formation challenge 1 3 236 246.

- Ao Xi — Dragon maiden who develops an interest in him and later becomes his battlefield partner. Her survival of the Dragon Tomb and acquisition of the Ancestral Dragon’s legacy impress him 13 39 40.

- Nuwa — Rescued alongside Fuxi; Wang Shi later invites both to his hall and helps guide her toward sainthood 17 57 78.
- Hongjun — Initially praises and nurtures Wang Shi, then attacks him after his identity is exposed. After defeat, accepts Wang Shi’s supremacy and agrees to follow him 51 236 246.
- Great Immortal Yang Mei — Adviser and rescuer who helps him enter a parallel world and saves him from the withered giant hand. Warns him not to overestimate victory over a mass-produced Saint 85 91.

- Luohu — Distinct from the otherworldly Saint-level attacker. Wang Shi saves him from mistaken punishment, later escapes with him, and guides him when relentless slaughter brings him close to madness 51 236 268.
- Hong — Displaced Dao Ancestor from a destroyed Primordial World. His disclosures enable the Saints to identify Wang Shi as an outsider; Wang Shi pursues him and forces him to remain nearby 236.
- Hongyun and Zhen Yuanzi — Allies whose temple Wang Shi helps defend. Accept his proposal to relocate Wuzhuang Temple to Buzhou Mountain and cooperate against the Fierce Beasts 32.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Training and Establishing Buzhou Mountain
Wang Shi’s companion axe gives the Three Pure Ones insight into the demon-god Daos, accelerating their progress. When their breakthroughs become dangerous, he teaches them corpse-severing and enables them to reach Quasi-Saint. They reciprocate with intensive training on the Three Immortal Islands, then send him traveling after discovering the strength concealed beneath his low realm 5 7 8 9.
His travels secure dragon origin essence and Ancestral Witch blood essence. Returning home, he establishes the Buzhou Mountain Divine Hall. He later mediates a Witch–Demon accord dividing the earth and heavens between them, then hosts Dao teachings that advance his cultivation and make Buzhou Mountain a major gathering place for spiritual instruction 13 16 25.
Fierce Beast Crisis and Parallel-World Intrusion
Wang Shi discovers that Fierce Beasts can supply Pangu origin and becomes a central defender of threatened fronts. Shen Ni targets him personally, uses controlled Bai Ze to attack him, and attempts to hunt him down. Wang Shi counters with clones, warnings to the Ancestral Witches, and a bluff that drives Shen Ni away 30 34 38 39 40.
He confronts a Saint-level Luohu whose origins lie in another Primordial World. His apparently impossible combat performance partly depends on concealed assistance. Hongjun subsequently confirms the parallel-world invasion, while Wang Shi prevents the local Luohu from being punished for the other figure’s actions 47 50 51.
Protecting Houtu and Challenging the Witch–Demon War
After reaching Quasi-Saint, Wang Shi turns toward strengthening the world’s defenders and changing Houtu’s expected fate. He searches for a way to establish reincarnation without requiring her to sacrifice herself, studying both the Three Books and the Chaos Bead 54 62 83 94.
When the Saints decline to stop renewed Witch–Demon fighting, he intervenes directly with the Pangu Divine Axe. He sends Taiyi flying despite the Chaos Bell and destroys Dijun’s Celestial Star Dou Great Array, demonstrating power the Saints themselves find alarming 72 73 74.
Chaos Bead and the Myriad Worlds
Seeking the Chaos Bead, Wang Shi enters a fallen parallel Primordial World and conceals himself among enslaved inhabitants. He rejects humiliating cultivation handouts, earns an overseer position through his knowledge, and eventually shields surviving fighters as they escape the collapsing world 85 87 91.
The bead then draws his consciousness into a powerful Three Kingdoms world as Dong Chun. He kills Li Ru to attract its world will, investigates an alien presence, and identifies He Jin as the likely anomaly. Returning with increased Origin Source, he learns that the bead links myriad worlds 92 93.
Realm Creation and War Against Darkness
Wang Shi studies the Great Daos with multiple manifestations and helps Dijun build the Demon Realm. Its unexpected properties suggest that the Jade Disc of Creation and Hongjun’s concealed intentions have influenced the result 121 122.
Still officially a Quasi-Saint, he overwhelms Saint-comparable enemies, drives off Dark Deities, and clears Otherworlder forces alongside younger cultivators. He also coordinates resistance beyond his own world, including the Starry Sky Great World, while retaining the full transformation of Buzhou Mountain as his long-term goal 168 175 176 191.
Complete Transformation and Estrangement from the Saints
After stabilizing the Darkness Boundary with the Elves and Saints, Wang Shi returns home and transforms his original mountain body. His tribulation takes Pangu’s form, and the Saints protect the surrounding world while he defeats it 220 221.
Reduced external pressure exposes conflicts among the Saints over interests and the creation of additional Saints. Their hostility escalates after his transmigrator identity becomes known. Wang Shi escapes with Houtu and Luohu rather than fighting his former teachers to the finish, then pursues Hong to discover how the revelation occurred 222 223 236.
Dao Venerable and Unified Leadership
Following Hongjun’s defeat and submission, Wang Shi accepts the title Dao Venerable. He withstands the Myriad Immortals Formation and obtains its surrender without releasing his accumulated destructive strike. Although he still honors the Three Pure Ones as masters, they formally terminate their discipleship bond 246 247 248.
He subsequently rescues Taiyi from system lifeforms, urges Fuxi to establish the Human Dao, and organizes interworld conquest to replenish the weakened Primordial World. His authority extends to removing Dijun and Taiyi as Demon Emperors, while his regular duties still include clearing dark lifeforms and mentoring cultivators such as Luohu 252 257 268.
