Background / History

The Qianyuan Sword Sect was established in Ancient Times by Great Ascension True Immortals who left behind artifacts and cultivation techniques before ascending. It has survived for hundreds of thousands of years, an exceptional feat among ancient sects. 408

Over two thousand years ago, the sect controlled Cloud Country and joined other cultivation forces in resisting a Realm Demon invasion at the Two Realms Abyss. Its elite forces were devastated in that war. The Xuan Yang Sect and Qing Hui Dao Sect then attacked the weakened sect, forcing it to abandon Cloud Country and retreat to the Myriad Star Sea. 223

After more than a thousand years of recovery in the Myriad Star Sea, the sect began a war to reclaim Cloud Country and brought the Myriad Star Sea under its rule. Its stated cause for the Cloud Country conflict was the recovery of its lost homeland. 223

For four centuries, it fought the Xuan Qing Dao Alliance in Cloud Country. The sect held the advantage, keeping the battlefield within Cloud Country rather than allowing the conflict to reach its Myriad Star Sea headquarters. 69

The sect eventually launched a full offensive in Cloud Country. Qin Zhan used the sect-protecting Yu Huang Bell to destroy the Qingwei Dao Sect's mountain-protection formation, main spirit vein, and much of its foundation, decisively damaging a principal enemy. 331 361

Organization and Governance

The sect’s disciples are divided into three ranks:

Rank Known Requirements / Status
Outer Disciple Requires at least an Upper Spiritual Root; must master one first-grade sword art to Great Accomplishment during Qi Refining. 39 81
Inner Disciple Requires spiritual-root qualifications and mastery of two or more first-grade sword arts to Great Accomplishment. 81
Personal Disciple A highly honored rank, generally comparable to an ordinary Elder; its status rises with cultivation. Personal Disciples may range from Foundation Establishment to Nascent Soul. 211

A Qi Refining inner disciple who perfects a first-grade sword art becomes eligible for Personal Disciple candidacy; after reaching Foundation Establishment and comprehending Sword Intent, they may formally receive the rank. 81

The sect’s authority is divided among the Sect Master, Elder Council, and Hall Masters as a system of mutual checks and balances. When the Sect Master lacks overwhelming personal strength, this balance enables factional conflict. 315

Known internal factions include:

  • Sect Master faction — led by Sect Master Fei Chenxue. 200
  • Elder faction — formerly led by the Third Elder, Ye Yin. 200 371
  • Neutral forces — figures such as Huyan Chi declined to take sides. 371

Territory and Sect Grounds

The Qianyuan Sword Sect rules the Myriad Star Sea and historically exercised strict control over its cultivation families. Families are generally limited to one prefecture of influence; the sect tolerates lesser maneuvering so long as this boundary is not crossed. 319

Its headquarters are centered on a massive sea island refined into a Cave Heaven world. Numerous independent Cave Heaven worlds are attached to it and bound together through formations, making the sect grounds function like an enormous composite magic artifact. 377

The sect created many small Cave Heavens using its reserves of World Origin Beads, accumulated during its ancient war with the True Demon Realm. It also refined Cave Heaven artifacts, including the large transport ships used by major Cangzhou families. 278

Sword Dao Legacy

The sect’s historic military dominance reshaped cultivation in the Myriad Star Sea. More than ninety percent of offensive artifacts became flying swords after local cultivators witnessed the power of its Sword Cultivators. 105

Its standard for Sword Cultivators is strict: a cultivator who has comprehended Sword Intent is a Sword Cultivator; one who has not is not. 105

The sect maintains comprehensive Sword Dao inheritances and guides talented Personal Disciples toward compatible complete Sword Intents by providing attribute-aligned sword arts. It cannot guarantee the result, but this system prevents disciples from blindly pursuing inferior branch Sword Intents. 227 370

The Qianyuan Sword Scripture is a Foundation Establishment-stage cultivation technique available through the sect’s Battle Merit exchange system. Acquiring such inheritances requires a Great Dao Oath of lifelong loyalty. 171

Resources and Policies

Battle Merit System

The sect uses Battle Merit to exchange military rewards, cultivation techniques, inheritances, materials, formations, artifacts, and other resources. Knowledge-based resources include cultivation techniques, spells, and inheritances for alchemy, artifact forging, talisman crafting, formations, and puppet arts. 170

By tying valuable techniques to Battle Merit and lifelong oaths, the sect draws Sword Cultivators from across the Myriad Star Sea into its service. 171

The system also acts as an attempted currency mechanism, though Spirit Stones remained the Myriad Star Sea’s fundamental currency due to resistance from major cultivation families. 394

Control of Strategic Inheritances

The sect deliberately restricts inheritances that could significantly strengthen cultivation families, especially high-grade Spirit Armor forging and large-scale war-artifact production. 177

  • High-grade Spirit Armor can allow same-realm cultivators to withstand attacks that would otherwise defeat them.
  • The sect makes only limited Spirit Armor inheritances available; a second-tier Spirit Armor inheritance alone cost 100,000 Great Merit. 177 189
  • It also controls materials needed for high-grade Spirit Armor, preventing powerful families from rapidly arming large elite forces. 289

This policy is understood as suppressing the power of major families while supporting rogue cultivators. 177

Artifact Forging Hall

The Artifact Forging Hall produces and sells specialized artifacts to major cultivation families, including the Nine Ruins Exquisite Pagoda and Inkfall Wall. The Hall’s profitability is immense; Huyan Chi, its Hall Master, is considered likely to possess more Spirit Stones than even the Sect Master. 316

The Hall holds major strategic inheritances, including methods for large-scale war artifacts, high-tier puppets, and high-grade Spirit Armor. Its eventual merger with the Chen Family’s Artifact Research Institute began transferring these foundations to the Chen Family. 426

Military Strength

The sect’s strength is founded on powerful Sword Cultivators, a large number of rogue-cultivator Nascent Soul True Monarchs, extensive artifact production, and the Yu Huang Bell. 441

Its Personal Disciples alone are described as capable of suppressing the Myriad Star Sea. 211

During the Zhennan Pass recovery campaign, it reorganized more than one million cultivators into a unified army, with soldiers equipped in standardized first- and second-tier silver-white Spirit Armor. 319

By the later period, the sect possessed three World Realm True Monarchs—Chen Daoxuan, Fei Chenxue, and Qin Zhan—alongside more than ten top-tier True Monarchs. 441

Sect-Protecting Immortal Artifact

Yu Huang Bell

The Yu Huang Bell is the sect’s sect-protecting Pure Yang Immortal Artifact and most treasured inheritance. As a second-rate sect, the Qianyuan Sword Sect possessing such an artifact is exceptionally rare. 316

  • It had been refined over centuries by Fei Chenxue and previous Sect Masters, allowing it to be forcibly activated once by a cultivator below the normal required cultivation level. 355
  • Qin Zhan activated it against the Qingwei Dao Sect, vaporizing Nascent Soul True Monarchs and destroying the sect’s mountain-protection formation and main spirit vein. 361
  • Its exposure risked attracting Primordial Spirit Dao Lords and even Tribulation Crossing Heavenly Venerates seeking the treasure. 361 372
  • Apart from the Yu Huang Bell, the sect possesses no complete seventh-tier magical artifact. 364

Relationships

  • Chen Family — Initially a subordinate cultivation family within the Myriad Star Sea. As Chen Daoxuan rose, the relationship developed into alliance, political tension, and eventual union through his dual-cultivation marriage with Sect Master Fei Chenxue. 319 406 429
  • Fei Chenxue — Sect Master; led the Sect Master faction and pursued the alliance with Chen Daoxuan despite internal opposition. 200 407 410
  • Qin Zhan — Zhenhai Hall Master and the sect’s strongest known cultivator after entering the World Realm; wielded the Yu Huang Bell against the Qingwei Dao Sect. 316 361
  • Fairy Chi Yao — Young Sect Master who led the Zhennan Pass recovery campaign and attempted to recruit Chen Daoxuan into the Sect Master faction. 314 319
  • Huyan Chi — Hall Master associated with Artifact Forging; possesses formidable forging skill and leads an exceptionally profitable hall. 315 316
  • Xuan Qing Dao Alliance — Long-standing enemy coalition in the struggle for Cloud Country. 69 331
  • Qingwei Dao Sect — Principal enemy sect whose foundation was devastated by the Yu Huang Bell. 361 432
  • Xuan Yang Sect — Former opponent involved in driving the sect from Cloud Country; later estranged from the Qingwei Dao Sect and involved in anti-Situ alliances. 223 432
  • Tian Yan Sect — Allied sect renowned for formations and spatial teleportation anchor points. 434 436

Major Arcs

Divine Absolute Rebellion

After Zhou Minghao reported evidence that Divine Absolute True Person might be behind the Zhao Family massacre, the sect sent a Nascent Soul True Lord to Guang'an Prefecture. It secretly chose to use the crisis as an opportunity to capture Divine Absolute True Person rather than intervene openly. 152 153

Cangzhou Corpse Chaos

The sect’s internal factions both sought Divine Absolute True Person’s elimination, though they remained divided on broader interests. It provided the wider political context for the Cangzhou Allied Army and later reward exchanges. 158 200

Retaking Zhennan Pass

The sect organized Cangzhou cultivators into a massive force to retake Zhennan Pass under Fairy Chi Yao’s command. The campaign also served internal political goals, as Chi Yao sought credentials within the sect. 314

Cloud Country War

The sect launched an all-out offensive against the Xuan Qing Dao Alliance. Concerned that the Qingwei Dao Sect might produce a Primordial Spirit cultivator using Taiyi Divine Water, Fei Chenxue ordered Qin Zhan to infiltrate the enemy sect and destroy the Taiyi Immortal Pond with the Yu Huang Bell. 316 331

Alliance with the Chen Family

As the Chen Family’s power grew, it became capable of threatening the sect’s traditional dominance. Fei Chenxue’s marriage alliance with Chen Daoxuan was intended to share governance of the Myriad Star Sea and Cloud Country rather than provoke open conflict. 406 407

The marriage faced resistance from sect disciples and senior figures, but Chen Daoxuan defeated opposing True Monarchs and Hall Masters before the Dual Cultivation Ceremony was held at the sect grounds. 410 428 429

Northwestern Sect Alliance

The sect joined Chen Daoxuan and other northwestern sects in resisting Xiao Yuhua, the Situ Family, and the Qingwei Dao Sect’s Primordial Spirit Dao Lords. Fei Chenxue presented the Yu Huang Bell as the sect’s principal treasure during alliance negotiations. 434 440

Trivia

  • The Qianyuan Sword Sect’s three authoritative combat rankings are the Foundation Establishment Hidden Dragon Ranking, Purple Mansion Prodigy Ranking, and Golden Core True Person Ranking; placements are based on Cloud Country battlefield achievements. 237
  • Though it dominates the Myriad Star Sea, the sect is regarded as only a second-rate sect on the broader Xianyun Continent. 314 347
  • The sect’s prestige, accumulated through thousands of years of rule, remained greater than Chen Daoxuan’s personal influence even after his strength surpassed it. 424
