Chen Yuan had just fallen asleep on the couch.
"Ah... don't rush..."
Suddenly, Zhou Min's voice drifted out of her room, through the wall, and into his ears.
Chen Yuan's eyelids twitched, but he didn't open his eyes.
He rolled over to face the back of the couch and tugged the blanket up, covering half his face.
Twenty minutes later...
The noise next door finally stopped, leaving only Zhou Min's complaints. She grumbled that he hadn't been gentle enough and had tried all sorts of things on her that he'd learned who knew where.
Chen Yuan was speechless. This woman is really something. That syrupy voice of hers is giving me goosebumps.
Only after the man promised to buy Zhou Min a handbag did she stop complaining and start wheedling instead.
Chen Yuan grumbled inwardly. What a piece of work.
Then Zhou Min's lazy voice rang out, slightly hoarse. "Leaving?"
The man's voice sounded rather flippant.
"What, haven't you had your fill?"
"Get lost! Are you trying to kill me? Don't come over tonight. I'm tired."
The man said something else that made Zhou Min laugh. Even her laughter sounded cloying and fake.
Zhou Min's bedroom door opened, followed by footsteps heading toward the front door.
Chen Yuan kept his eyes shut, pretending to sleep.
Before long, footsteps approached the couch.
"Why are you pretending to sleep?"
Zhou Min's amused voice came from above his head.
Chen Yuan didn't move.
"Your breathing's all over the place, and you're still pretending?" Zhou Min spoke again, her voice even closer.
Chen Yuan couldn't keep up the act, so he opened his eyes.
Zhou Min stood beside the couch, looking down at him.
Her face was still flushed from what she'd just been doing. Her camisole hung loosely on her body, one strap slipping down to bare half her shoulder.
Her hair was tousled too, with a few sweat-dampened strands stuck to her forehead.
She bent over, bracing both hands on the back of the couch and bringing her face close to his.
That sickly-sweet fragrance grew stronger, mixed with a faint trace of sweat. Chen Yuan couldn't help wrinkling his nose again.
"Think I smell?"
Seeing him frown, Zhou Min laughed and gave his cheek a light pat.
Chen Yuan sat up and shifted aside, putting some distance between them.
Zhou Min took the opportunity to sit down, leaning back and crossing her legs.
Below her camisole, she wore a pair of tiny shorts. Her bare legs were pale, with a little redness along her inner thighs.
"Why are you backing away?" She tilted her head at Chen Yuan, smiling. "Afraid I'll eat you?"
Chen Yuan said nothing. He simply gave her a cool glance, his gaze calm and unreadable.
The look made Zhou Min a little uncomfortable, but she quickly laughed again.
"Yuan, how old are you?"
"Eighteen."
"Eighteen. Have you ever had a girlfriend?"
Chen Yuan didn't answer.
Zhou Min stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed, her shoulders trembling lightly. Her camisole strap slipped farther down her shoulder, but she couldn't be bothered to pull it up.
"Never?!"
She leaned forward, propped her elbows on her knees, and rested her chin in her hands as she looked at him.
"Then did listening through the wall get you excited?"
After saying that, Zhou Min glanced at his lower half, a teasing smile curling her lips.
Chen Yuan's face instantly turned red. Heat surged from the base of his neck to the tips of his ears, then all the way up to his forehead.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but couldn't get a single word out.
Seeing his reaction, Zhou Min laughed even harder.
She reached out and patted his thigh, her tone teasing. "That easily embarrassed? I could teach you!"
Chen Yuan brushed Zhou Min's hand away, stood up, and walked to the coffee table, where he picked up a glass and took a drink.
The water had been left over from the night before, and the gulp sent a sudden chill through his throat.
Zhou Min reclined on the couch, watching Chen Yuan's back with amusement in her eyes.
"With a body like that, you must work out, right? Slim waist, broad shoulders, a nice ass. Listening through the wall just now made you really want to try it, didn't it?"
Chen Yuan set the glass down and turned to look at her.
"Min."
"Hmm?"
"Aren't you tired?"
Zhou Min froze for a moment. "What?"
"You were so loud just now. Doesn't your throat hurt?"
Zhou Min stared at him for two seconds, then burst out laughing, rocking back and forth as her chest bounced.
She wiped the corner of one eye.
"Not bad, Yuan. You've even learned to talk back."
She stood up, walked over to Chen Yuan, and rose onto her toes to lean close to his ear.
"My throat's just fine." She lowered her voice, her warm breath brushing his ear. "Want to give it a try?"
Chen Yuan took a step back.
Just then, Zhang Xiu'e's bedroom door opened with a click.
Seeing Zhang Xiu'e, Zhou Min didn't look flustered in the slightest. She slowly straightened up, casually brushed back her hair, and smiled at her.
"Oh, you're awake?"
Zhang Xiu'e walked over and stood beside Chen Yuan, looking calmly at Zhou Min.
"What are you doing?"
Zhou Min folded her arms. "Chatting. What else would I be doing?"
"Chatting? Dressed like that?"
Zhou Min looked down at herself. One camisole strap had slipped halfway down, and the hems of her tiny shorts had rolled up, exposing a strip of pale flesh at the tops of her thighs.
Unhurriedly, she pulled the strap back up and tugged at the hems of her shorts.
"What's wrong with dressing comfortably at home? You're going to tell me what to wear now?"
Zhang Xiu'e just stared at her without a word.
Her stare made Zhou Min uneasy, and she curled her lip.
"All right, all right. I know you're protective of your little hometown boy. It's not like I did anything to him."
She turned toward her room, but after two steps, she suddenly looked back and winked at Chen Yuan.
"Yuan, give what I said some thought."
Zhang Xiu'e's expression darkened instantly.
Seeing her expression, Zhou Min chuckled, opened her door, and went into her room.
As soon as the door closed, cheerful humming drifted from inside. She was clearly in a very good mood.
Zhang Xiu'e stood where she was, staring at the closed door, her lips pressed tight and her brows deeply furrowed.
"What did she say to you?"
Chen Yuan shook his head. "Nothing much."
Zhang Xiu'e turned to him and looked him up and down, her gaze lingering on his bright red ears.
"Was she trying to seduce you again?"
Chen Yuan froze, too embarrassed to answer.
Zhang Xiu'e sighed softly, stepped closer, and patted his arm.
"Stay away from her."
"I know," Chen Yuan answered quietly.
Zhang Xiu'e watched him for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled.
"You're so red. You weren't listening through the wall just now, were you?"
Chen Yuan's face instantly grew even redder.
Zhang Xiu'e laughed and didn't press him further. She walked to the coffee table, picked up the glass of cold water, looked at it, and set it back down.
"I'll boil some water and make tea. Want some?"
"Yeah."
Zhang Xiu'e turned toward the kitchen, but after two steps, she glanced back at him.
"Yuan."
"Hmm?"
"Stay away from women like Zhou Min."
