Ch. 41Even when beating a dog, you must consider its master. You dare touch an Emperor serving my Su Family?
Plot and key events
- The Hong Family Emperor attacks the Divine Sun Sect, demanding that it surrender Yang Kong, who allegedly killed people in his cities and stole their treasures. He invokes the Hong Family’s service to the powerful Su Family.
- Yang Kong returns after disappearing for ten years, accompanied by Mu Chiyu, a goddess of the Primordial Imperial Court. She has promised to act for him three times; this is her first intervention.
- Mu Chiyu overwhelms and seemingly destroys the Hong Family Emperor’s body with an Ancient Immortal Divine Art. His divine soul escapes, but Su Linxian arrives and captures it.
- Su Linxian’s presence alone knocks Mu Chiyu aside. He reveals his connection to the Su Family and uses the slaughter divine law—Yang Kong’s stolen power—to destroy the Divine Sun Sect’s physical bodies. He spares their souls but orders them to restore the Hong Family Emperor’s body or face the sect’s destruction.
- Mu Chiyu accepts Yang Kong’s urging to attack Su Linxian, using her second promised intervention. Their powers clash, but Su Linxian traps her with the Heavenly Prison Art and gravely wounds her. His system rewards him with villain points.
Character developments and interactions
- Yang Kong returns determined to take responsibility for his past actions, but is outmatched by Su Linxian. He is devastated to recognize his slaughter divine law in Su Linxian’s possession and cries out when Mu Chiyu is injured. His former master, Zeng Kuxuan, rejects him and tells him to stand back.
- Mu Chiyu is revealed as an immensely powerful, ancient goddess whose divine arts let her fight far above her early Emperor Realm cultivation. Her calm gives way to shock when she encounters Su Linxian, and her confidence is tested when he defeats her.
- Su Linxian asserts the Su Family’s authority with ruthless force, punishing the Divine Sun Sect for harming its subordinate. He also recognizes Mu Chiyu’s extraordinary destiny and her connection to the Primordial Imperial Court.
- Zeng Kuxuan shifts from defending his sect to pleading with Su Linxian. Though his body is destroyed, he submits to save the souls of himself and his elders.
