They had thought that with so many of them petitioning together, Demon Emperor Chu Batian would order Chen Mu's execution without hesitation, both to quell the public outrage and because of Chen Mu's sensitive status as a member of the Human Race.
Who could have imagined that Chu Batian would instead roar at them, ordering every last one of them to kneel?
His words carried an irresistible emperor's might.
The officials still wanted to speak, but Chu Batian cut them off before they had the chance. "I do not wish to repeat myself!"
Intimidated by Chu Batian's influence and strength, the demons dared not resist. They obediently bent their knees and knelt.

Most likely, with members of the Human Race present, they and the other demon officials and Demon Generals had stolen too much of the limelight and overstepped too often, making him feel that his royal authority was being challenged.
Quite a few of them convinced themselves with that explanation.
They did not particularly mind. As the saying went, the merciful could not command armies, and the righteous could not manage wealth.
It was perfectly normal for a Demon Emperor to rule with an iron hand.
As long as they could get rid of those two members of the Human Race, Chen Mu and Ye Qingcheng, suffering a little humiliation was nothing.
