Langfellow looked somewhat uncertain.

Unlike the cautious deference he had once shown Demon Emperors, he now had enough confidence to face Langfellow as an equal.

Even if Langfellow had more seniority and greater strength, that was all there was to it.

At his words,

"Where is Yelvis?" Yifli scanned the Main Hall, curiosity in his voice.
"He went into seclusion."
Langfellow's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, but he still answered.
Yifli nodded slightly, then walked straight to the seat at the center of the Main Hall and sat down.
Langfellow frowned again. "That's Yelvis's seat. Yours should be over there."
With that, he pointed to the seat opposite his own.
It had once been Troy's seat.
But Troy had fallen, so it naturally belonged to Yifli now that he had become a Demon Emperor.

Yifli was unconcerned. "We're all Demon Emperors. Why draw such rigid distinctions? There's never been a rule about who can sit in these seats and who can't, has there?"
