"What are you doing here?"
Wen Ning lowered his hand and looked at Bai Lu, who stood at the cave entrance, still slightly out of breath. The surprise in his voice was unmistakable.
"A weasel immortal serving under my uncle cast a divination a couple of days ago and discovered that his nephew had suddenly incurred a fatal calamity."
As Bai Lu spoke, she pointed at Huang San on the ground.
"So he sent someone to ask me to look into it and see whether you could spare him."
Wen Ning froze at her words, an exceedingly complicated expression spreading across his face.
"No, wait."
He raised a hand and rubbed his temple, as though trying to digest this sudden flood of information.
"A weasel immortal serving under your uncle? How did you know it was me?"
Bai Lu looked at him.
"I asked Meng Jiang. She said you'd headed this way."
Bai Lu explained.
Wen Ning pointed at Huang San, his face full of disbelief.
"You're telling me this bastard is the fucking nephew of a weasel immortal who serves under your uncle?"
Bai Lu nodded.
Wen Ning took a deep breath. He felt as though his entire understanding of the world had taken a hit. Connections everywhere.
"Fine. Do you know what he's done?"
Bai Lu shook her head, her gaze falling on Huang San.
"What happened?"
Wen Ning held nothing back and explained the whole affair, starting with how this weasel had tried to trick a little girl into granting him divinity with a single sentence.
After hearing him out, Bai Lu had no idea what to say either.
Once Wen Ning finished, he glanced at Bai Lu.
"Well? How am I supposed to spare him?"
