"Jun!"
The house collapsed. His daughter-in-law let out a desperate cry and struggled to rush forward to save them.
But before she could take more than a few steps, she saw Zhang Hongxing emerge with one person tucked under each arm.
"Jun, Mom, are you all right?"
"Grandma..."
The family quickly huddled together in an embrace, leaving only Zhang Hongxing standing awkwardly to one side.
"Well, well. Another one with a death wish."
Boss Pan walked up to them and took out the demolition agreement.
"Well? The house is already gone. Surely you can sign now? Let me tell you, if you sign today, I can make sure the original terms still stand. Wait until tomorrow, and you won't get the same price."
Thud.
Zhang Hongxing punched Boss Pan in the stomach. The blow was not particularly fast, but it came without warning.
Boss Pan spewed a mouthful of blood and doubled over. Then he began trembling uncontrollably, sweat instantly covering his face.
The punch looked casual, but the pain it caused was excruciating.
It felt as though a charging rhinoceros had rammed into him.
"I... beat... beat... beat him to death!"
The pain was so intense that Boss Pan could not even get a sentence out properly.
With their boss giving the order, his dozen or so lackeys were hardly going to stand around doing nothing. Zhang Hongxing's unremarkable punch was not enough to scare them off.
At that moment, they had no idea just what sort of being stood before them.
Over his fifteen thousand years in the Immortal Cultivation World, he had killed so many people that even he had lost count.
Although he had exhausted all his cultivation breaking through the barrier between dimensions to return to Earth, his body was still tough enough to withstand a direct hit from an ordinary bomb.
With a body like that, dealing with a dozen pathetic thugs was child's play.
Thud, thud, thud...
Not one of them could withstand Zhang Hongxing's punches and kicks. In less than two minutes, all of them had met the same fate as Boss Pan.
The excavator operator did not escape his fists either.
"Um, you..."
After beating them up, Zhang Hongxing returned to his family, but he stammered for a while without knowing what to say.
"Are you my grandpa?"
His five-year-old grandson poked his head out from behind his daughter-in-law. Li Xiuying had shown him his grandfather's photo countless times since he was little, so suddenly seeing someone who looked exactly the same naturally left him with questions.
"Um... yes."
Zhang Hongxing scratched his head. Suddenly having a grandson left him a little dazed too.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!"
His little grandson excitedly ran out from behind his daughter-in-law and leaped into Zhang Hongxing's arms. Zhang Hongxing caught him in one smooth motion.
At that moment, his son was the first person who came to mind.
The year he had been sucked into the Immortal Cultivation World, his son Zhang Jun had been just this age. Before he had even had the chance to truly experience being a father, he had already become a grandfather.
"Um... his name is Zhang Le."
Zhang Jun awkwardly introduced the boy from beside them. Although he had his suspicions, he simply could not bring himself to call this man, who looked several years younger than him, Dad.
"Yes, Lele is a good name. My grandson should live a happy life."
Zhang Hongxing made an effort to respond. Since things had come to this, he had to take the lead in adjusting.
One person, however, had needed no time to adjust at all.
"Grandpa, why don't you have any white hair?"
"Grandpa, do you know kung fu?"
"Grandpa, will you teach me kung fu?"
Seeing her son bombard this "strange" father-in-law who had suddenly appeared with endless questions, his daughter-in-law hurried over and took the boy back into her arms.
"H-hello. My name is Yan Mei. I'm Jun's wife."
Her husband had not said anything yet, so Yan Mei did not dare address Zhang Hongxing as family. Besides, the whole thing was bizarre no matter how she looked at it.
As the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward, Zhang Hongxing had no choice but to speak up.
"Well, what happened to me might be a little complicated to explain, but I really am Zhang Hongxing. You can think of it as traveling through spacetime. Thirty years ago, I fell into a Space-Time Wormhole and ended up here."
After briefly explaining what had happened to him, Zhang Hongxing steered the conversation straight toward the thugs lying on the ground.
"Never mind me for now. Tell me what's going on with these people. Do you owe them money, or did you offend them somehow? Whatever happened, just tell me. Now that I'm back, I'll take over and settle everything."
Looking at Zhang Hongxing, Zhang Jun still found it somewhat difficult to accept, but he had more or less come to believe it was true.
The look on Zhang Hongxing's face, as though he would shoulder anything so long as he was there, also helped Zhang Jun feel a little more accepting of this father who had suddenly appeared.
"Well, we don't owe anyone money, and we haven't offended anyone either. They're here to force us to agree to demolition."
"Demolition?"
"Uh... demolition means..."
Zhang Jun thought for a moment and realized he did not know how to explain it, so he put it another way. "In short, someone wants to buy our house. We don't want to sell, so they came to force us."
"So tyrannical. It seems I went too easy on them."
Now that he understood, Zhang Hongxing turned around, intending to cripple their arms and legs.
Realizing what was about to happen, Zhang Jun immediately grabbed him.
"Please don't hit them again. If you kill someone, we'll end up in prison."
"Don't worry. I know how far to go."
Zhang Hongxing walked over to the group and pointed at Zhang Le and Yan Mei.
"Who hit them earlier? Step forward on your own. I'll count to three. If no one steps forward by then, sorry, but you can all die together."
Although he had lost all his cultivation, the murderous aura he had forged fighting through mountains of corpses and seas of blood had not disappeared.
A single glance sent a shudder through every one of them.
At that moment, not one of them doubted his words.
"Three..."
"He hit them!"
"And him!"
"Fuck you! How dare you sell me out!"
"Who the fuck do you think you are? If you've got any balls, step forward yourself!"
It really did take a villain to tame villains. A single glance from Zhang Hongxing had set the whole group fighting among themselves. Before he could finish counting, the five who had struck his family were shoved forward.
Knowing they could not escape, all five quickly grabbed iron rods, ready to fight for their lives.
Zhang Hongxing merely gave them a sinister smile.
Then he walked toward them.
Since they had laid hands on his family, how could he let them off easy? If he had not lost all his cultivation, he would have sealed their souls in purgatory and let them suffer endlessly in its flames.
As things stood, although he would not kill them immediately, he still had ways to make them suddenly die two months later.
Thud, thud, thud...
Zhang Cheng unleashed five kicks, sending all five men flying while leaving a hidden force inside each of them that would erupt two months later.
Then he gave Boss Pan and the driver the same treatment, one kick apiece.
As for the others, he let them go after giving them a light beating.
"Consider yourselves lucky today. If my family hadn't just been reunited, I would have wiped out scum like you on the spot."
The dozen or so men quickly left, supporting one another.
On the surface, none of them seemed seriously injured.
But the intense, stabbing pain they had felt terrified them. They all planned to get checked at the hospital next. Without an examination, none of them would dare rest easy.
As for revenge...
Not one of them dared even consider it.
After what Zhang Hongxing had just displayed, unless they used guns, sending more people would only mean sending more victims.
