Ch. 141Earth Will
Plot points
- After absorbing the orb of light, Zhang Hongxing learns that it was Earth’s planetary will. He has become Earth’s master: unlike Hongjun, who sacrificed his identity to merge with the Heavenly Dao, Zhang remains himself and can control Earth as his body.
- He discovers that Earth and the Classic of Mountains and Seas World were once one, separated by a group of Western Demon Gods. The conflict between them and the Eastern Gods and Demons began in the Divine Realm. The rift on Mars leads instead to a second-tier universe.
- The moon is already hurtling toward Earth when Zhang regains consciousness. His family fears he is dead and prepares to seek shelter behind the Kunlun Mountains, while the government evacuates civilians and deploys mechs and fighter jets.
- Zhang secretly stops the moon by manipulating Earth’s magnetic field and gravity, masking his intervention with clouds. He warns himself that the prolonged loss of sunlight could damage the land below, though human technology may mitigate the harm.
- Two Western demons, a minotaur and a one-horned demon, prepare to attack. The minotaur hesitates; the one-horned demon tries to seize the human forces but encounters an unseen barrier and realizes Earth may be protected by a Divine Domain.
Character developments and interactions
- Zhang’s transformation gives him immense power without erasing his personality. He uses it to protect Earth and its people while remaining unseen.
- Li Xiuying is devastated by Zhang’s apparent death but holds on to hope, trusting his past miracles and the Black Tortoise’s lack of alarm.
- Zhang’s sons, Zhang Jun and Zhang Bing, step up to protect their mother and direct the family to safety. The family supports one another through the crisis.
- The minotaur and one-horned demon taunt each other over who should attack. The minotaur avoids the task, prompting the one-horned demon to act—and then retreat when his power fails.
Significant themes
- Identity and power: Zhang’s union with Earth differs from self-sacrificing fusion; he retains his selfhood while gaining planetary control.
- Hidden truth and incomplete knowledge: Earlier accounts were not deliberate lies, but partial truths shaped by limited memory.
- Family, courage, and hope: Zhang’s family faces apparent loss and danger by relying on one another and continuing to believe in him.
- Resistance and protection: Humanity’s refusal to submit contrasts with the demons’ contempt, while Zhang’s unseen intervention turns Earth itself into a defense.
