Clang! Li Yichen kicked open the dormitory door and tossed the three of them onto their respective beds like sandbags.
"Damn, if things were still like they used to be, we'd be sleeping on the streets tonight." The moment he dropped them onto their beds, their snores rose one after another, each louder than the last, like frogs in a pond after a rainstorm.
Click! The dormitory lights went out right on schedule.
"Forget sleeping." Half an hour later, he sat up in bed helplessly.
It was simply too noisy. He couldn't sleep at all.
He turned to look at the sky outside. It was pitch-black and somewhat overcast.
"The weather in Jinling is pretty weird too. It was so hot today, but now it's cloudy tonight." Li Yichen muttered to himself, then climbed out of bed.
"Since I can't sleep anyway, why don't I ask Black and White Impermanence if they can bring up a few martial arts masters to teach me a couple of moves?"
With that thought, Li Yichen couldn't sit still any longer. He opened the window, leaped out, and vanished into the night in a few bounds.
A figure streaked along the road toward the White Temple in the west of the city.
"Holy shit, this feels amazing!" Li Yichen couldn't help shouting.
He was running at full speed now, his legs pumping so rapidly that they were almost a blur. The hair on his legs shed in showers and drifted into the air.
Is this where the term "fleet-footed" came from—feet fast enough to make your hair fly? Li Yichen thought mischievously.
At full sprint, he was definitely no slower than a car, and his fuel consumption was only two steamed buns per hundred kilometers. He barely even used any magical power. What a bargain.
"It'd be a waste of these legs not to deliver takeout," Li Yichen said with a hint of regret.
If the Ghost Emperor Haoran knew that, after he had expended a Netherworld Soul Jade to transform Li Yichen's body and taught him the Great Netherworld Scripture, Li Yichen was thinking about delivering takeout instead of picking up girls, he would probably break both his legs.
When he reached the White Temple's plaza, Li Yichen found a relatively open spot and tried to make contact through the Communication Talisman White Impermanence had left him.
"Seventh Master, Eighth Master, are you there?" Li Yichen asked softly.
The next second, he felt someone tap his shoulder, and White Impermanence's voice sounded beside his ear. "Little brother, what do you need us two for?"
Li Yichen jumped. He hadn't expected Black and White Impermanence to arrive so quickly.
"You two got here so fast I didn't even have time to brace myself." Li Yichen turned around with a forced smile.
"When our little brother Yichen calls, of course we have to hurry. Nobody else gets this treatment." Black Impermanence grinned.
Li Yichen was speechless, so he changed the subject and asked tentatively, "I wanted to ask you two for a favor. Would that be all right?"
The two exchanged a glance, then asked with interest, "Let's hear it. As long as it's within our power, we won't refuse."
They had already made up their minds to take on Li Yichen's request, even if it was difficult. When it came to favors, naturally, the more he owed them, the better.
Unaware of their little scheme, Li Yichen continued, "Could you two bring Huo Yuanjia, Ip Man, and Wong Fei-hung up here to teach me some kung fu?"
"Huh?" Black and White Impermanence exchanged startled looks. They had thought Li Yichen needed their help with something difficult, only to discover that it was a trivial matter.
"Is bringing all three too difficult?" Seeing them remain silent and stare at him strangely, Li Yichen panicked. He hurriedly held up one finger and tried to negotiate. "How about two?"
When they still said nothing, he slapped his thigh. "If it's really that difficult, even one would do."
"Heh." White Impermanence quickly smiled and waved a hand. "It's not that we think it's too difficult. We think it's too easy."
"Oh." Li Yichen immediately sighed in relief. "That's good, that's good."
"Are you sure there's nothing else?" Black Impermanence asked again, still uncertain.
"Nope, just this one thing." Li Yichen patted his chest in assurance.
"All right, then. Wait here a moment, little brother Yichen. We'll be right back." White Impermanence nodded, then grabbed Black Impermanence and vanished on the spot.
"Once I learn kung fu, nobody's going to push me around again." Thinking of Jiang Ruoyi, Li Yichen gritted his teeth. Then he blushed. "Still, that beauty had a great figure. Felt pretty nice too."
"The guys said that woman was a police officer..." Li Yichen frowned. "Was she accompanying that girl here to register?"
Then he clapped his hands. "That's it, that's it! That girl called her cousin."
He chuckled again. "Hehe, that girl was pretty nice too. She was beautiful, especially those lips... so soft."
Finally, he discovered to his surprise that he could recall everything that had happened over the past two days, down to the smallest detail, without a single error.
He couldn't help scratching his head. "Huh? Why does my brain feel so much sharper? I can actually remember everything after seeing it just once."
After pondering for a long time, Li Yichen finally slapped his thigh and declared shamelessly, "A genius! I must be a genius!"
"Brother Fan, is little brother Yichen all right?" Black Impermanence asked worriedly. "He's been standing there grinning like an idiot for ages."
"He should be fine," White Impermanence said after a moment's thought. "Judging by that lecherous grin just now, he must be thinking about women."
Black Impermanence immediately gave him a thumbs-up and said admiringly, "You never miss a thing, Brother Fan. I'm impressed."
White Impermanence walked up to Li Yichen with a smile and asked tentatively, "Has something made you happy, little brother Yichen? Why not share it so we can enjoy it too?"
"No... nothing..." Only then did Li Yichen snap out of it. Blushing slightly, he asked, "When did you two get back?"
"We only just got back." Naturally, White Impermanence didn't expose him. Instead, he smiled and said, "We've brought the men you wanted, little brother."
Li Yichen was overjoyed and hurriedly asked, "Really? Where are they?"
"Take a look, little brother." White Impermanence held out his fist, then slowly opened it.
Three figures stood in his palm, looking rather like holographic projections, except that they were far too small.
"Why are they so tiny?" Li Yichen asked in confusion.
"Look again, little brother." White Impermanence smiled, then blew on them.
The three figures immediately floated down, growing as they drifted through the air. By the time they landed, they were the size of three ordinary men.
Li Yichen's eyes lit up. Grabbing White Impermanence, he said, "Seventh Master, you have to teach me that trick. It's so cool!"
"Heh." White Impermanence smiled and waved a hand. "It's just a minor trick. I'll be sure to teach you when we have time. For now, you should learn kung fu from them first."
"Yes, yes..." Li Yichen nodded like a chick pecking at grain. "Then it's a deal." After that, his gaze settled on the three figures.
He was a little excited too. Having watched so much television, the thought of getting to see the real men in person was quite thrilling.
White Impermanence turned toward them, his face expressionless, and beckoned. "Come here and pay your respects to Young Master Yichen."
The three men assumed solemn expressions, stepped forward in unison, and bowed. "Our respects to you, divine lords, and to Young Master Yichen."
