Ch. 521Jiangli Makes Its Move
Plot points and events
- Mo Chong, under Qiongqi’s influence, nearly strangles Yang Qing. The others restrain him and prepare to stab him in the back, but Yang Qing insists that Mo Chong is still alive inside the possessed body. They lower their weapons, and the brief hesitation lets them free Yang Qing.
- Yang Qing warns that Qiongqi is too dangerous to confront while it remains inside Mo Chong. They must draw it out before it kills Mo Chong and escapes.
- Jiangli returns after briefly darting away. It swiftly scratches the backs of Yang Qing and each of his companions, then strikes Mo Chong’s chest with a claw and unleashes a shrill cry that leaves the group reeling. Yang Qing’s ears bleed, and Bu Er and Mu Feng brace him against the force as Jiangli appears ready to cry out again.
Character developments and interactions
- Yang Qing shows compassion and restraint under extreme pressure, insisting the group spare Mo Chong rather than treating him as Qiongqi’s disposable vessel. He remains focused on containing Qiongqi despite his injuries.
- Bu Er, Jiang Zhizhou, Mu Feng, and Ouyang Lin act quickly to rescue Yang Qing, but follow his lead and stop themselves from killing Mo Chong.
- Jiangli shifts from seemingly fleeing to taking decisive, mysterious action. Its speed and apparent ability to strike the others before they can react reveal that it may be far more capable than they assumed.
- Qiongqi proves cunning: rather than simply pursuing its own release, it tries to control Mo Chong as a puppet, making the threat harder to contain.
