"That's great!" Chen Siyao linked arms with her. "Xinxue, have you had dinner? If not, eat with us! My brother's cooking is amazing!"
Song Xinxue froze, instinctively looking toward Chen Hao.
Chen Hao stood in the living room, backlit, his expression unreadable.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she hurriedly waved her hands. "No, no, I'm still on duty..."
"You still have to eat when you're working!" Chen Siyao gave her no room to refuse. "You're our property concierge anyway. Having dinner with a homeowner isn't against the rules, right?"
Song Xinxue had no idea how to turn her down and could only say quietly, "Then... all right. Sorry for the trouble."
Only then did Chen Hao speak, his tone mild. "Have a seat. I'll cook."
He turned and went into the kitchen.
Chen Siyao pulled Song Xinxue onto the sofa and eagerly poured her some water.
Sitting on the soft sofa, Song Xinxue surveyed the luxurious living room, but her gaze kept drifting toward the busy figure in the kitchen.
Chen Hao, her high school classmate.
Back then, he had been a good student, but quiet and reserved, barely noticeable.
Who could have imagined that ten years later, he would become like this?
Stopping a rampaging bull with one hand, walking on water, slaying a monster with a single sword strike, knowing the Queen Mother of the West, possessing a Primordial Secret Realm...
When Song Xinxue first saw him at the sales office, she hadn't recognized him at all.
Only when he signed the contract and wrote his name did she suddenly remember—it was him.
At the time, she had simply thought, Wow, my old classmate made it big. He's buying a mansion worth tens of millions.
Later, she began following his livestreams and saw those unbelievable scenes.
She started leafing through her high school class album, found his photo, and compared it with how he looked now.
His features hadn't changed much, but his bearing was completely different.
Now, if he stood in a crowd, he would catch your eye immediately.
That calm, composed air, as though nothing in the world could trouble him, made it impossible to look away.
She thought that only someone who had weathered great storms in life could carry himself like that.
Then she made a decision—to transfer to the property concierge department.
Working in sales was certainly tiresome, and she was utterly sick of the harassment from those clients.
But what truly made up her mind was that Chen Hao had bought a home here.
She wanted to be a little closer to him.
"Xinxue? Xinxue?" Chen Siyao's voice brought her back to reality.
Song Xinxue snapped out of it and realized she had been staring into the kitchen for quite some time. Her face instantly flushed.
"Huh? What is it?"
Chen Siyao smiled at her. "Xinxue, why are you spacing out? What are you thinking about?"
"N-nothing..." Song Xinxue hastily waved her hand and took a sip of water to hide her fluster.
Chen Siyao was laughing herself silly inside.
And she says it's nothing? She's practically staring holes through the kitchen door!
But she didn't call her out, merely smiling as she said, "Xinxue, come over often. You're our property concierge, after all. Visiting a homeowner doesn't count as skipping work, right?"
Song Xinxue laughed at that and nodded. "All right. I'll come often."
In the kitchen, Chen Hao was chopping vegetables.
His Divine Sense covered the entire living room, so naturally, he heard their conversation and sensed Song Xinxue's gaze.
Some people's intentions were clear to him at a glance.
But seeing through them didn't mean he had to respond.
He had his own path to follow. Ten thousand years of solitude had taught him that, in the end, he could never stay with an ordinary person forever.
An hour later, dinner was ready.
Four dishes and a soup, all enticing in appearance, aroma, and flavor.
Had Yang Wanqing been there, she would surely have made a fuss again.
Sitting at the dining table, Song Xinxue looked at the spread in disbelief. "You made all this?"
Chen Hao nodded.
Song Xinxue took a bite, and her eyes instantly lit up. "It's delicious!"
Chen Siyao said proudly, "Of course! My brother's cooking is better than any Michelin restaurant!"
Song Xinxue took another couple of bites, then suddenly remembered something. "Oh, that dog earlier... is it really a Husky?"
Chen Siyao paused and instinctively looked at Chen Hao.
Chen Hao said mildly, "What do you think?"
Song Xinxue fell silent.
She remembered how calm Chen Hao had been when he came downstairs, his composure when he saw the police, and the dependence in that "Husky's" eyes when it looked at him.
Suddenly, she understood something.
This man could make the entrance to a valley disappear.
What was turning a wolf into a Husky compared to that?
She asked no more questions and lowered her head to continue eating.
After dinner, Song Xinxue said goodbye and left.
Chen Siyao walked her to the elevator and said with a smile, "Come again, Xinxue."
Song Xinxue nodded and stepped into the elevator.
The moment the doors closed, she let out a long breath.
Her heart was racing.
She pressed a hand to her chest and smiled helplessly.
Song Xinxue, you've seen plenty of the world. Why are you acting like a young girl falling in love for the first time?
But that man really was so... so irresistible.
As the elevator descended, her thoughts drifted away with it.
Upstairs, Chen Siyao shut the door and skipped back to the living room.
"Brother! Xinxue likes you!"
Chen Hao glanced at her without speaking.
Chen Siyao leaned closer, her eyes sparkling. "Didn't you see? Her eyes practically lit up with little stars when she looked at you!"
Chen Hao said mildly, "I noticed."
"You noticed, and you were still that cold?" Chen Siyao grew anxious. "She deliberately transferred departments to become a property concierge just to be closer to you!"
Chen Hao set down his teacup, looked at her, and slowly said, "Yaoyao, if you knew you were destined to part in the end, would you still choose to be together in the first place?"
Chen Siyao froze.
Her heart suddenly ached for him.
She gently hugged her brother's arm and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Brother, don't worry. However long I live, I'll stay with you."
Chen Hao looked down at her, a faint smile touching his lips.
"Silly girl, have you forgotten? You bathed in the Jade Pool. Your body has already been transformed. Besides, I'll keep improving your physical condition little by little. You have many years ahead of you. Don't hold yourself back for my sake. Do whatever you want."
Chen Siyao raised her head and blinked. "Really? I can live a long time?"
Chen Hao nodded.
Chen Siyao's eyes lit up. "Then how long can I live? A thousand years? Ten thousand?"
Chen Hao thought for a moment, then said seriously, "That depends on your cultivation progress. If you work a little harder, over a thousand years should be no problem."
"Over a thousand years!" Chen Siyao jumped straight up. "Doesn't that mean I could watch my great-great-great-grandchildren grow up? I could live to be an ancient ancestor!"
Chen Hao laughed at her. "Keep dreaming. Find yourself a boyfriend first."
Chen Siyao blushed and stamped her foot. "Brother! Why are you just like Qingqing? I'm not finding one! I want to stay with you!"
"Stay with me?" Chen Hao looked at her with a teasing smile. "Will staying with me get you a boyfriend?"
Chen Siyao had no answer.
Moontrace lay on the rug, lifting his head to look at them with a puzzled whine.
Chen Siyao looked down at him and suddenly remembered something. "Oh, brother, how did Moontrace turn into a Husky? What did you do?"
Chen Hao held out his hand, and Moontrace immediately ran over and rubbed affectionately against it.
"Bloodline Concealment," Chen Hao said mildly. "It makes him look like an ordinary dog to keep him out of trouble."
Understanding dawned on Chen Siyao. She crouched and poked Moontrace's head. "Little Moon, you're a Husky now, got it? Act the part, and don't give yourself away."
Moontrace tilted his head at her, his bewildered expression seeming to ask, "What are you talking about?"
Chen Siyao laughed at his expression. "Brother, he really seems to think he's a Husky!"
Chen Hao smiled. "Only for now. Once he's had some time to adjust, he can return to his original form."
"Then he can turn back into a wolf later?"
"Of course."
Chen Siyao nodded in satisfaction, picked Moontrace up, and kissed him. "Good. Otherwise, it'd be such a shame. Our Little Moon is a descendant of the Wolf King, after all!"
Moontrace looked utterly baffled by her kiss, but obligingly licked her face.
Chen Siyao wiped her face in disgust. "Ugh, drool!"
Watching them, the tenderness in Chen Hao's eyes deepened.
When Chen Siyao woke early the next morning, sunlight had already spilled through the floor-to-ceiling windows, filling the living room.
She stretched luxuriously and climbed out of bed. After washing up, she went downstairs and found Chen Hao already busy in the kitchen.
"Morning, brother!" She ran over. "What tasty food are you making?"
Chen Hao was frying eggs, while porridge simmered in the pot beside him, giving off a light, sweet fragrance.
"Just throwing something together. Go sit and wait."
Chen Siyao obediently sat at the dining table, took out her phone, and started a livestream.
The moment the stream went live, hundreds of thousands of viewers poured in:
[I Am Ying Zheng: Here we are! Morning, Yaoyao!]
