When Qian Wanyu came home that evening and saw how distracted her lover was, she sensed that something was amiss. Later, she found the business card in her lover's coat pocket and instructed her assistant to look into it. It belonged to a private hospital some distance from their home, and she went to visit it herself.
"Ninth Sister, it's almost time to visit Le Le. Is there anything you want to bring her?"
"Huh?" Tong Yao snapped out of her daze. "Some cured meat and salted fish. Last time, she said they were delicious and asked me to make more to stock up. She wants to eat her fill when she comes home."
The corner of Qian Wanyu's mouth twitched despite herself. "She shouldn't eat too much cured food, and she's still too young. Pick something else."
Tong Yao nodded. "She doesn't seem to need anything."
Qian Wanyu set down the book in her hands. "I recently heard from her superior that the intensity of their training has increased considerably. She's probably picked up quite a few injuries. Prepare some good medicine for her wounds."
"She's hurt?" Tong Yao sprang to her feet in alarm. "Where is she hurt? How did she get hurt?"
"Ninth Sister, you know that sometimes it's better to suffer a few injuries early on than to lose your life at a critical moment. Since she chose military school, she should be prepared for that. Just like you-you're a doctor, after all. Since they've invited you back, why won't you accept?"
