Little Lecher angrily moved the vines behind them in front of her. Several strange plants were tied to one vine, one knot per plant, making it look like a braided whip. It was utterly ridiculous.
Without the slightest courtesy, Little Lecher slammed the plants hard against the ground with the vine, lifted them, and slammed them down several more times to vent a whole night's frustration.
"Knock, knock."
"Knock, knock."
"Knock, knock."
Every time Little Lecher slammed them down, Dongfang Minghui heard that familiar knocking. It took her a while to realize the sounds were coming from these plants. Her face filled with disbelief. "No way."
Yesterday, she had let her imagination run wild over the knocking, thinking she had encountered something supernatural. So these plants had been playing tricks on her all along.
Dongfang Minghui crouched and freed one of the plants from Little Lecher's vine. They were all the same species, with a little fan perched on their heads. Their heads were large and their bodies small, making her break into a nervous sweat just looking at them.
What if, one day, they were walking along and toppled headfirst onto the ground?
"Hey."
She pinched its root stalk, effectively grabbing it by the neck. "Do you know this is my territory?"
"Knock, knock."
"Speak plant language."
"Knock, knock."
The chubby little doll pressed a hand to their forehead with grave resignation. "They're called Knock-Knock Grass. Apart from 'knock, knock,' they can't say anything."
Otherwise, Little Lecher would not have been furious enough to want to wipe out these plants outright.
Dongfang Minghui: "..."
So they had all been toyed with by these few stalks of Knock-Knock Grass?
Qian Wanyu had already opened her eyes, but the chubby doll and Dongfang Minghui were so engrossed that neither noticed her.
