Dongfang Minghui, who had been mistakenly presumed to be inside the snake beast's belly, had lost all will to live. Bound in vines and suspended from a tree, she swung back and forth, back and forth.

Ever since waking that day, Dongfang Minghui had been terrified by the emerald-green vines crawling all over the cave. She could not see the plant's main body, but she could feel an immense, rich vitality filling the entire cave.

Under such ferocious pressure, a level-three Spirit Practitioner like her was utterly insignificant.

Oh, right-just before she had been knocked unconscious, her spiritual power, which had already been on the verge of a breakthrough, had apparently encountered a magical plant that could nourish her even better. And so, she had quietly leveled up.

The red peony's flower core had never even come into play.

Dongfang Minghui wanted to cry, but had no tears left. Keeping her little life intact felt like an incredibly daunting, perhaps even impossible task. She had escaped death at the heroine's hands, only to be on the verge of dying at the hands of this magical plant. She was probably the most tragic supporting female character in the world-a supporting character killed by a plant. Boo-hoo-hoo.

"Have you made up your mind?"

An exceedingly elderly-sounding voice suddenly rang out in the cave.

Dongfang Minghui remained unmoved, looking as though she had given up on treatment and was barely clinging to life. From the very first day she had been trapped here, this perverted magical plant had flipped her every which way and whipped her mercilessly.

Shortly after waking up that time, she had passed out again from the pain.

When she woke once more, what the magical plant said nearly scared the piss out of her.

"If you agree to become my cultivation vessel, I'll let you go."

Just listen to that! Was that something a magical plant ought to say? A cultivation vessel? What the hell!

Dongfang Minghui naturally could not agree. Anyone who became a cultivation vessel would be branded from then on, and none of them met a good end. In any case, this perverted magical plant kept repeating the same demand. When she refused, it tormented her in every way imaginable.

Swinging upside down for four hours, as she was doing now, was one of its tortures.

Whenever the blood rushed to her head and she was about to suffocate, the perverted magical plant flipped her over and hung her from the cave ceiling. Dongfang Minghui had already grown numb to the agony wracking her entire body.

"&#¥#%...¥%...&&&#¥" All she could do each day was vent by cursing. In truth, she was completely helpless against this magical plant.

For some reason, the magical plant seemed equally helpless against her. Otherwise, after all this time, this old pervert would probably have already done OOXX to her. Boo-hoo-hoo.

After being trapped for so long, she spent every day imagining how she would eventually die. There were so many possibilities: bleeding to death, being swallowed alive by the magical plant, or becoming a cultivation vessel and finally having all her vital essence sucked dry...

By the end of it, she actually felt that the death the heroine had in store for her was not all that terrifying. Clearly, she had been tortured too much.

"You undying old pervert." Dongfang Minghui felt the world spinning, her head swimming and her vision blurring, probably from losing too much blood. She muttered a curse, then her head lolled to one side and she fainted again.

The long vines slowly lowered her, and a figure suddenly appeared before her. Had Dongfang Minghui opened her eyes, she probably would have exclaimed at how beautiful the figure was. But she knew nothing of it now.

"You win."

When she woke again, all the vines in the cave had disappeared. It was just as she had first seen it: clean and empty, with nothing left behind.

Dongfang Minghui felt her shoulders. To torment her, that perverted vine had actually driven its branches straight through her shoulders, hanging her up to whip her. It had hurt so much.

Its methods were truly vicious. It had stopped at nothing to force her to become its cultivation vessel.

"How strange." Dongfang Minghui examined herself and found no wounds anywhere on her body. Everything that had happened before seemed like a dream.

"Huh?"

She could not help exclaiming in surprise. Not only was her body unharmed, but her spiritual power had reached a whole new level of abundance. On closer inspection, she discovered that she had actually leaped from a mere level-three Spirit Practitioner to a level-one Spirit Master.

A Spirit Master! She had leveled up!

"Heavens, I really must be dreaming." She pinched herself hard. It hurt.

"In your dreams. If heavenly lightning hadn't struck and injured my main body, leaving me knowing my end was near, do you think such good fortune would have fallen into the hands of a useless idiot like you?" Just as Dongfang Minghui was beside herself with joy, a childish voice suddenly piped up.

"You're-that perverted magical plant!" Dongfang Minghui nearly jumped out of her skin. She grabbed her bundle and bolted out of the cave as fast as she could.

"Heh-heh, you useless idiot. Do you really think I can't do anything to you once you leave the cave?" The childish voice still rang inside her mind, driving another knife into her heart. "We've already formed a contract. You'll never get rid of me. Hahahahaha!"

Dongfang Minghui stumbled and landed squarely on her backside. The magical plant's words left her utterly dumbfounded.

There were three ways to form contracts on the Seven-Colored Continent. The first was a slave contract: generally, if the master died, the slave died too, but the slave's death did not affect the master. The second was a blood contract, in which master and slave shared their lifespans, living and dying together, sharing blessings and bearing hardships alike. The last was an equal contract, also called a temporary contract, which could be dissolved.

Dongfang Minghui trembled for a long while before asking, "What kind of contract?"

"A blood contract."

Dongfang Minghui's vision blurred, and she nearly fainted again. So she could forget about ever getting rid of this magical plant in her lifetime. With a magical plant beside her that wanted to catch people and turn them into cultivation vessels every day, could she ever live a happy life?

She walked back as though her soul had left her body. The cave was empty. When the medicinal herbs outside saw her, every last one trembled as though it had seen a ghost.

She had wanted to ask how the heroine was doing, but seeing them all curled up like wronged little wives instantly killed her interest. Instead, she sat alone on a stone stool and stared into space.

Only when Dongfang Wanyu returned, dragging another enormous Magic Beast, did her soul return.

"Seventh Sister."

Dongfang Wanyu glanced at her and frowned slightly.

"Be careful. There's a vicious aura about her," a cool voice kindly warned.

Dongfang Minghui watched the heroine draw her whip. With a flick, a pit appeared in the ground, every bit as deep as before, if not deeper. It seemed the heroine's spiritual power had improved considerably while she was away.

"Seventh Sister."

"What foolish thing have you done this time?"

"Wow, this woman's spiritual energy is so rich. She'd make a better cultivation vessel than you." Before Dongfang Minghui could explain, that infuriating voice piped up in her mind again.

Dongfang Minghui seemed to glimpse the infuriating days awaiting her. With a mournful face, she looked at the heroine. "Seventh Sister, save me!"

After hearing her entire account, Dongfang Wanyu put away her whip, caught between laughter and exasperation. "Since your magic pet has already signed a blood contract with you, it certainly won't hurt you again."

Was she worried that this perverted, infuriating magical plant would hurt her?

The heroine had completely misunderstood her. What she was really worried about was this infuriating magical plant courting death and dragging her along with it.

Dongfang Wanyu cut the Magic Beast into pieces. "Come on. Let's fill our stomachs first."

Speaking of food, throughout her long confinement in the cave, she had filled her belly each day with a sweet liquid. Now that she saw meat, she could not help swallowing.

Skinning, cutting, skewering, lighting a fire, setting up a rack-she performed the whole sequence with practiced ease. As she grilled the meat, she pondered how to keep this death-seeking magical plant in check.

"I'm the highest-ranking existence among magical plants. Would becoming my cultivation vessel really be beneath her?" The childish voice kept pestering Dongfang Minghui inside her mind.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

Dongfang Minghui banished the infuriating magical plant straight to the cold palace and refused to answer any of its questions.

Though Dongfang Wanyu kept her eyes on her, she was also silently communicating with the cool voice in her own mind. She clearly found it somewhat strange that Dongfang Minghui had suddenly contracted a magical plant carrying such a vicious aura.

"If it were as simple as your ninth sister said, I don't believe a magical plant with a vicious aura would willingly form a contract with her, much less a blood contract. There must be something strange behind this. I think you should remain cautious." The cool voice came from within Dongfang Wanyu's mind. He was a soul who had passed away long ago, attached to the Seven-Colored Stone, which had come into Dongfang Wanyu's possession through a chance encounter.

Most of the credit for how far Dongfang Wanyu had come belonged to him.

"Qing Mo, can you tell what level the magical plant that contracted with her is?" Whenever Dongfang Wanyu approached Dongfang Minghui, she could sense an aura that made her heart tremble.

Qing Mo said frankly, "Without seeing its main body, I can't tell. Judging by what I sense now, this magical plant is at least mid-to-high level, perhaps even higher."

The two ate grilled meat together, but their thoughts differed, each making her own plans.

"Get some rest early. Tomorrow, we'll continue our journey."

Continue their journey? Dongfang Minghui was a little dumbfounded. She had only just returned, and the heroine was already planning to leave the Purple Demon Mountains?

"Seventh Sister, are we moving somewhere else?"

"Yes."

Dongfang Wanyu planned to train as she traveled, making her way all the way to the Royal Academy.

Located in the Golden Star Empire, the Royal Academy was a gathering place for geniuses from across the Seven-Colored Continent, somewhere all three great empires scrambled to send their people.

Dongfang Wanyu wanted to study at the Royal Academy and investigate the little secrets surrounding her.

As for Dongfang Minghui, she was nothing more than an unexpected burden tagging along. But now, there were still things worth uncovering about this unexpected addition, so she remained useful for the time being.

Dongfang Minghui had already developed something of a psychological shadow over the Purple Demon Mountains. Upon hearing that the heroine intended to leave, she quickly packed everything and was too excited to sleep all night.

The next day, Dongfang Minghui had wanted to say goodbye to the medicinal herbs outside the cave, but the moment she approached, they all trembled and curled into little clumps.

Never mind communicating with them-even getting close was difficult.

There was no need to think about it. This was naturally her magic pet's handiwork.

"Can you completely suppress your aura?" Dongfang Minghui tried to communicate with her infuriating magic pet. She felt that it was not merely infuriating, but hateful too. It had robbed her of her only pleasure in this world.

"I can, but on one condition."

Her magic pet actually dared to bargain with its master.

Dongfang Minghui did not even need to hear it to know what the infuriating magic pet wanted.

"I want to make your seventh sister my cultivation vessel. The next time I make a move on her, don't interfere."

Dongfang Minghui: "..." Fucking hell. If the heroine found out what her magic pet was thinking, she would be two hundred percent certain to chop her into mincemeat and feed her to the dogs.
