Becoming an Alchemist

After carefully reviewing the method for refining a Qi Condensation Pill in his mind, Jun Wangchen walked up to Furnace Model Seven and channeled his spiritual power into it.

Furnace Model Seven shuddered violently. Flames sprang up, and the temperature of the entire space seemed to rise.

Jun Wangchen glanced back at Taishang Laojun, took a deep breath, and fixed his gaze on a stalk of qi-congealing herb ten meters ahead.

He was just about to begin when Taishang Laojun frowned. "Your Soul Perception is already this depleted. Take this Soul-Returning Pill first."

With a flick of his horsetail whisk, a dark pill appeared before Jun Wangchen.

"Master, what is this Soul Perception you mentioned?" Rather than immediately taking the pill, Jun Wangchen asked curiously.

Taishang Laojun explained, "Soul Perception, shortened to Soul Power and also known as Soul Force or Mental Power, is the sole measure of an Alchemist's strength. The stronger their Soul Perception, the higher their rank, the greater their chances of successfully refining pills, and the more concentrated the medicinal components in their finished pills."

"I see." Understanding dawned on Jun Wangchen. Without further hesitation, he picked up the Soul-Returning Pill and put it in his mouth.

The instant the pill entered his mouth, Jun Wangchen felt his depleted Soul Power surge back. In less than three seconds, it had returned to its peak, brimming with energy.
