Jun Wangchen nodded slightly and sat on the bed. He wanted to take out his phone and chat, but the signal in the mountains was terrible. There was no internet at all.
Bored out of his mind, Jun Wangchen simply closed his eyes and began meditating and cultivating.
Before long, night began to fall.
Whimpering rose from the courtyard, one cry after another.
At first, the sounds were intermittent, but by the middle of the night, they rattled on nonstop like a tractor.
He could hear dissatisfaction and grievance in those cries, and even a trace of resentment.
Jun Wangchen opened his eyes and looked toward the iron bars in the courtyard.
All five puppies were frantically clawing at the bars. They had even worn a notch into one of them.
Jun Wangchen looked utterly bewildered.
What was going on?
Puzzled, Jun Wangchen walked closer for a look, then understood.
The five Greenwood Dogs had gone hungry all day and desperately wanted something to eat. Their bellies had shrunk from hunger.
"We'll deal with it in the morning. There's nothing to eat right now." Jun Wangchen scolded the five Greenwood Dogs, then turned and went back into his room.
Watching Jun Wangchen walk away, the five puppies exchanged looks, feeling terribly wronged.
They had feasted on meat and fish every day since birth. Never before had they been left this hungry.
Yet that bastard had actually left them to fend for themselves.
Furious, they threw caution to the wind and kept howling and whimpering. They even rammed the iron bars, as though intent on hurting themselves.
"Damn, now you're pulling
