Dragon recalled everything he had heard about Randall and couldn't help marveling.
Randall waved a hand and said modestly,
"Oh, it's nothing, really. Anyone with hands could do it."
Dragon's expression stiffened a little at that.
He suddenly felt that his judgment of Randall had been somewhat off.
He looked so serious onstage, so profound. How did his whole demeanor change the moment he opened his mouth offstage?

Dragon gave a light cough to ease his exasperation before saying,
"Let's put that aside for now, Vice Admiral Randall. I came to discuss something important with you."
Randall kept his expression neutral, but inwardly wondered what this was about.

Don't tell me he wants me to join him in some grand undertaking.

Dragon was pleased that Randall was willing to talk to him.
He glanced around, and only after confirming that no one was paying attention to them did he lower his voice.
