Three months in a place like Konoha was neither a long time nor a short one.
For an academy student diligently studying the Three-Body Technique, it might have been just enough time to master the Clone Technique without producing some hideous monstrosity; for Teuchi, the owner of Ichiraku Ramen, perhaps it meant developing another popular new flavor; and for a certain naturally curly, silver-haired man who used the Hokage Office sofa as his bed, it was probably long enough to take ninety afternoon naps in three hundred and sixty different positions.
The Hokage Office.
Tsunade was furiously working her way through a "mountain" of documents, feeling as though all that writing was about to turn her wrist into a Fire Qilin Arm.
One report in particular, sent up from the underground Laboratory and headed "Request for Additional Funding for Konoha's National Fitness Plan," contained an astronomical figure that made the veins at her temples throb.
"Uchiha Shinichi!" Tsunade roared without looking up, her voice carrying the dangerous rumble of a volcano about to erupt. "If you don't get up and handle some paperwork, I'm throwing this month's allowance into the Valley of the End to feed the fish-and that precious sofa of yours along with it!"
On the sofa, a certain man who should have been impossible to wake merely rolled over lazily and answered in a garbled, dreamlike mumble, "Keep it down... I'm dreaming Ichiraku Ramen is running an all-you-can-eat buffet... I've only just reached my hundredth bowl..."
Tsunade gritted her teeth in fury. Just as she was about to grab the crystal ball on her desk and hurl it at him, an extremely faint buzz at a peculiar frequency sounded from an utterly unremarkable corner of the office.
It was not one of the village's standard communication devices.
