When Uchiha Shinichi opened his eyes again, he had fully accepted the fact that he had transmigrated.
Oh my god, I've transmigrated into the world of Naruto. This is seriously...
No... no way!
He coughed, took a deep breath, and began comforting himself. All right, since I'm already here, there's no point complaining... but this world is full of regrets and bitter disappointments! Sigh, what can I even do? Even if I've been reborn into the Uchiha Clan, I'm not confident I can surpass a talent like that weasel! I'll probably just have to keep my head down and survive.
He lazily lay back down, his eyes empty and lifeless, as though he had completely given up on his fate.
He thought to himself, There are powerful people everywhere in this world anyway. If I don't want to get crushed underfoot, I'd better keep a low profile. Maybe I'll spend my whole life like this, eating good food, yawning, and lounging around.
Just as he was indulging in these idle thoughts, a crisp notification suddenly rang out in his mind, interrupting his lazy train of thought.
Ding—
The sound was like a bell ringing down from the heavens, striking straight into his mind.
Host successfully detected. God-Level Growth System binding to host...
"W-wait a second!" Shinichi instantly perked up, his eyes flying wide open.
What was going on?
There was actually a notification sounding inside his head?
Transmigrating into another world had already left him bewildered, and now there was some kind of system too?
Binding progress: one percent... twenty-five percent... fifty percent...
The system's voice remained unhurried, reporting the binding progress bit by bit.
Oh, come on, why is this system so slow? Does binding really have to take this long? Shinichi silently grumbled. He felt he might not be all that lucky after all. This system was probably just like his "career"—it hadn't accomplished anything before settling straight into doing nothing.
Ninety-nine percent...
The system continued its steady announcements.
Now Shinichi couldn't help growing curious about what sort of "perks" this system would bring him.
The thought stirred a little anticipation in his heart, though he still lounged against the bed with a faint smile. "Heh, what's this thing going to give me? Hopefully it isn't one of those garbage systems that hands out dangerous missions for the protagonist to complete."
Binding complete. God-Level Growth System successfully activated!
The system finally announced the result. Shinichi's dead-fish eyes widened slightly as he silently began weighing things up. What the hell is this God-Level Growth System? Will it let me slaughter anyone in my way, even gods and Buddhas? Going by its name, God-Level Growth System, could it be one of those 'terrorist' systems that sends me on dangerous missions before giving me rewards?
He smiled faintly, a mischievous curve touching his lips, and slowly leaned back against the bed. "All right, all right. Since you're here, let's see just how far you can take me."
Congratulations to the host on successfully binding the God-Level Growth System. The host has been detected to have just been reborn into the Naruto world... growth has yet to begin. The system will temporarily go offline and reappear once the host officially begins training.
"Hey, hey, hey, system, what's going on here?" Shinichi immediately grew angry, his eyes widening slightly and his face filling with displeasure. "Even online games give you a beginner gift package! Who clocks out right away like you? Where's your professional ethics? Are you going to let me live a decent life or not?"
"Huh? Is that a thing? Let me look through the system's professional code of conduct!" The system's mechanical voice sounded in his mind, seeming a little confused, as though it had only just discovered that it had a professional code of conduct too.
"Huh? What kind of system are you? Don't tell me you're a total scam! You just bind yourself to some host and then run off!"
Shinichi muttered helplessly, practically ready to explode with anger at the system. "Hurry up and give me something useful! Where's my beginner gift package? You can't even provide the most basic service? That's not good enough!"
The system's voice sounded again. "Hmm... the system's professional code of conduct is still being refined... please wait a moment."
Wait a moment? Are you messing with me? Shinichi grumbled silently, unable to stop himself from rolling his eyes. "Hurry up, hurry up! Stop dragging your feet! Where's my beginner gift package? System, where do you draw the line on professional ethics?"
Shinichi grew increasingly anxious. This absurd level of service was becoming more than he could bear.
Suddenly, the sound of rummaging came from inside Shinichi's mind, as though the system was frantically searching through some things.
Then the system's mechanical voice sounded again. "Issuing the beginner gift package to the host. Please claim and inspect it after the beep!"
Shinichi froze, relief instantly washing through him.
He had already braced himself for the system to stall with another "please wait a moment," but instead, the gift package notification arrived right then.
Though the notification was a little abrupt, he could hardly contain his excitement. After all, this was his "first perk" since being reborn!
Beep—!
As the system's notification sounded in his mind, Shinichi instinctively reached out, as though he could actually take the so-called gift package from thin air.
With a trace of anticipation, he began silently waiting for the system's next move.
Finally! Looks like I didn't wait for nothing after all, Shinichi thought with a sigh of satisfaction. A smug little smile rose to his lips as he imagined what "magical items" the gift package might contain.
Information flooded Shinichi's mind like a rising tide, and the system's voice rang clearly in his ears.
Beginner gift package contents: basic Sage Body from the Naruto world, Six Powers from the One Piece world, Flight Technique from the Dragon Ball world, Lake Toya from the Gintama world. (Note: item-type tools will be stored in System Space. The host need only softly call their names to manifest them in the real world.)
As he read the information, Shinichi's mood instantly hit rock bottom.
His head felt ready to explode, and he couldn't help roaring inwardly, Couldn't you give me some stronger rewards? Look at the other transmigrators! They reach Kage Level at three, surpass it at six, and hit Six Paths level at eight! And me? System, this is what you give me? With my body in this state, how am I supposed to train in the Six Powers? I'll probably only be able to fly a few meters with the Flight Technique!
And what the hell is Lake Toya?! What use is a lousy wooden sword?! I want the Great Black Blade from One Piece! Old Man Yamamoto's Ryujin Jakka!
His dissatisfaction kept mounting. He could hardly believe this was his "starting setup" after transmigrating.
Other transmigrators all got cheats that made them stronger and let them instantly defeat everything. But him? All he got at the start was a cobbled-together "gift package."
Want to train in the Six Powers? Sorry, your body was too weak. Want to learn the Flight Technique? Sorry, you weren't the right age.
Shinichi tilted his head toward the heavens, as though questioning fate. "What did you bring me here for? Is this a joke?"
But then he remembered his current situation and sighed. "Forget it, forget it. I can't keep complaining. I have to find something I can use."
He helplessly closed his eyes, feeling that he could only grit his teeth, accept this "feeble" start, and begin searching for a way forward, even if the things the system had given him annoyed him a little.
"Ding—beginner gift package fully issued. Take it or leave it, host. As for me, it's time to clock out!"
The system's voice sounded leisurely in Shinichi's mind. Even its mechanical tone carried a hint of laziness, as though it really were an exhausted office drone who had worked overtime late into the night and finally made it to quitting time.
After hearing that, Shinichi felt utterly beside himself.
His eyelid twitched, his expression instantly darkened, and a dangerous gleam flashed through his dead-fish eyes. The corner of his mouth twitched, and then... he erupted!
"Hey! What kind of lousy system are you? What's with that attitude? Your beginner gift package is this pathetic, and you still have the nerve to clock out? Where are your professional ethics? Your sense of responsibility? Do you know other transmigrators awaken their Sharingan the moment they open their eyes, reach Kage Level at three, and clear the Shinobi World Instance at six? And me? All I get are these weak-ass skills? This is how you treat me?? And you're still clocking out???"
The more Shinichi thought about it, the angrier he became. He unleashed a relentless barrage at the system inside his mind, sending profanity, snark, and bitter complaints flying together in a verbal tempest, attacking the system from every angle without leaving a single blind spot!
The system, however, fell silent for a moment before speaking again in the same indifferent tone—
Host detected insulting this system. The system will punish the host.
"Huh? Wait—"
Bzzzt—!!
In an instant, a surge of electricity exploded inside Shinichi's mind, shocking his entire body rigid. He shook wildly like an octopus being electrocuted, his eyes turning into madly spinning spirals. His mouth trembled uncontrollably, and a little white foam even began to spill from it. His whole body kept shaking like a salted fish struck by heavenly lightning!
"Aaaaaaaaargh!!!" Shinichi screamed inside his mind, his body convulsing so violently that even his soul seemed to tremble. "What kind of lousy system is this?! You can actually electrocute people??? I only complained a little! Are you a tyrant?! I protest! I want to appeal!!"
Unfortunately, the system remained cold as ice.
Punishment complete. Host, please mind your language.
The electricity finally stopped. Shinichi collapsed onto the bed, numb all over, the corner of his mouth still twitching slightly beyond his control.
He gasped for breath, his face pale and his eyes full of disbelief, seemingly still unable to accept that the system inside his own mind had electrocuted him until he was practically charred outside and tender inside.
"Th-this system is way too ruthless..." He lay there with a vacant stare, complaining in broken phrases. "So I've only just transmigrated, and before I even get a chance to show off, my own system zaps me... This kind of treatment is truly one of a kind."
He raised a trembling finger and murmured through twitching lips, "Oh, heavens, this transmigration deal is such a rip-off... Am I ever going to get to live a decent life?"
