Background / History
Founding Konoha
The Uchiha and Senju were formerly enemies, but Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju joined forces to establish Konoha. Under Hashirama’s leadership, the village provided the Uchiha with a stable home without completely erasing the hostility between the clans 10 41 50.
Madara later fought Hashirama at the Valley of the End. Hashirama defeated him, but Madara survived and disappeared. He subsequently remained hidden at the Mountain Graveyard, where White Zetsu supplied him with intelligence about Konoha and the Uchiha 10 43.
Hashirama’s Death and Wartime Service
Hashirama’s death left the Uchiha uncertain about their future under Tobirama. At the funeral, Setsuna considered whether the change in leadership offered an opportunity to regain influence, while some clan members began losing faith in Konoha 10.
During the First Shinobi World War, Raishin served on the front lines against Kumogakure’s elite forces. Shinichi’s rescues of Tobirama and the future Sannin increased the clan’s prestige and strengthened Raishin’s standing among its elders 20 28 35.
Leadership Election
In Konoha Year 19, Kagami’s deteriorating health forced the clan to elect a successor. The contest narrowed to Setsuna, who advocated independence even through rebellion, and Raishin, who supported improving the clan’s position through cooperation with Konoha 41.
Although excluded from the assembly for lacking a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, nine-year-old Shinichi entered Naka Shrine and challenged Setsuna. His Ryujin Jakka overwhelmed Setsuna’s Water Formation Wall, leaving the elder alive but politically powerless. Raishin then won by an overwhelming majority, and Shinichi became the young clan head and designated successor 41.
Shinichi intends to prevent the future Uchiha massacre known to him through his previous-world knowledge. His strategy includes controlling clan resources, opposing Danzō’s rise, and building an independent network of allies; the massacre is a feared future, not an event that has occurred in the supplied chapters 38 41.
Organization and Traditions
Leadership and Factions
| Position / Faction | Representative | Policy or Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Former clan head | Kagami Uchiha | Favored maintaining stable relations with Konoha; remained acting head despite severe wartime injuries 38 41. |
| Moderate faction | Uchiha Raishin | Advocated cooperation and gradual improvement of the clan’s standing within the village 41. |
| Radical faction | Uchiha Setsuna | Sought freedom from Konoha’s control and considered rebellion acceptable 38 41. |
| Young clan head | Uchiha Shinichi | Gained direct involvement in core affairs and authority to allocate clan resources 41. |
- Assembly eligibility: Ancient rules reserve participation in high-level decisions and clan-head voting for members with a fully developed Three-Tomoe Sharingan 41.
- Naka Shrine: Hosts gatherings of the clan’s elite whenever major decisions require a vote 41.
- Technique acquisition: Advanced clan ninjutsu can be obtained through contribution points. Techniques ranked B or higher require substantial contributions or, when acquired from the village, mission credits 10.
- Sharingan prestige: Shinichi’s failure to awaken the eyes provokes resentment despite his superior combat ability. Setsuna teaches Kanon that an Uchiha without the Sharingan cannot be a true genius; Shinichi’s victories challenge that doctrine 40 45.
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan
- Inherited ocular power: The Sharingan is the clan’s defining kekkei genkai and a major marker of status within its political hierarchy 38 41.
- Awakening: Intense emotional stimulation—particularly pain, anger, hatred, or loss—usually triggers its emergence. Kanon awakens directly to two tomoe after witnessing a comrade’s death 39 45.
- Documented development: Kanon later gains a third tomoe through frustration during another defeat by Shinichi 50.
- Exceptional mutation: Shinichi’s system-granted Six Eyes fuse with his newly awakened Sharingan, producing sapphire-blue, one-tomoe eyes with motion tracking and penetrating chakra vision. These are his individual abilities, not standard clan traits 46 47.
- Emotional risk: Tobirama distinguishes the eyes themselves from users consumed by their power and the emotions surrounding their awakening 35.
Fire Release
- Traditional specialty: The clan is renowned for Fire Release alongside the Sharingan 10 41.
- Known technique: Both Shinichi and Kanon use the Great Fireball Technique 26 50.
- Individual variation: Raishin combines his Three-Tomoe Sharingan with lightning, fire, and earth techniques, demonstrating that Uchiha combat is not restricted to fire 10.
- Nonstandard power: Shinichi’s Ryujin Jakka produces flames that Tobirama recognizes as unlike ordinary Fire Release; it is not presented as a shared Uchiha technique 31.
Uchiha Style Taijutsu
- Core principle: “Flow”—integrating offense and defense while controlling the transition between movement and stillness 6.
- Applications: Dance-like evasion, precise finishing strikes, and control of battlefield rhythm minimize the user’s expenditure while placing opponents at a disadvantage 6.
- Shadow Step: Agile, unpredictable footwork creates afterimages and shifts around an opponent to conceal attacks 6.
- Training requirements: Balance, physical conditioning, and effective striking remain fundamental; elegance alone does not make a movement combat-ready 6.
Transcription Seal
- Function: A clan-specific ability that stores a dōjutsu in another person’s eyes or an object, then activates it under predetermined conditions 42.
- Proposed extension: Shinichi considers strengthening it with sealing jutsu so that people outside the clan could use stored techniques. This remains a research proposal in the supplied passage 42.
Appearance and Insignia
- Clan clothing: Shinichi wears black Uchiha robes bearing a vivid red fan crest on the back 27.
- Visible clan identity: The crest draws suspicious looks when he walks through the Senju compound, making his affiliation immediately recognizable 27.
- Typical awakened eyes: Ordinary Sharingan are scarlet; Shinichi’s sapphire-blue eyes are explicitly identified as a mutation 47.
Notable Members
- Uchiha Shinichi — Raishin’s son, Tobirama’s disciple, and designated clan successor. His battlefield reputation and defeat of Setsuna make him a central force in clan politics 35 41.
- Uchiha Raishin — Elite jōnin, war hero, and moderate leader elected clan head. His cooperation with Konoha contrasts with Setsuna’s radicalism 10 38 41.
- Kagami Uchiha — Wartime veteran and former clan head whose failing health prompts the succession election 38 41.
- Uchiha Setsuna — Radical elder, former fanatical follower of Madara, and Kanon’s grandfather. His defeat by Shinichi destroys his political influence 41 45.
- Uchiha Kanon — Gifted Fire and Lightning Release user known as “Little Lady Madara.” Her determination to surpass Shinichi attracts Madara’s attention as a potential heir or pawn 43 45 50.
- Madara Uchiha — Konoha co-founder living secretly outside the village. He opposes Senju influence over Shinichi and orders White Zetsu to monitor and eventually guide Kanon 43 45.
Relations with Konoha and the Senju
- Persistent distrust: Senju residents remain wary of an Uchiha entering their compound even when that individual is Tobirama’s acknowledged student 27.
- Political exclusion: Raishin is considered for Third Hokage, but Tobirama judges an Uchiha appointment too divisive. Shinichi likewise views his father’s candidacy as largely symbolic 37 38.
- Military policing: Madara blames Tobirama’s creation of the Konoha Military Police Force for moving the Uchiha toward the village’s outskirts and isolating them from central power. This is presented as Madara’s assessment 43.
- A potential bridge: Shinichi’s apprenticeship under Tobirama and closeness to Tsunade connect him to both clans. White Zetsu predicts that he may become a bridge between the Uchiha and Senju rather than a weapon against the latter 45.
