The afternoon matches soon began. Facing May's Skitty and Combusken, Drew brought out Flygon for the first time to partner with Roselia. May displayed outstanding adaptability during the battle, but she still fell short of Drew and, unsurprisingly, was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the last match, Sadako, who had placed fourth in the first round of judging, advanced smoothly. After the computer determined the matchups, Robert would face Sadako in the first match, while Drew would battle Liu Yuan in the second.
Although they had reached the semifinals, there was no way they would schedule one match in the morning and one in the afternoon. After all, each match lasted only five minutes. Both semifinal matches would be held that morning, with the final taking place in the afternoon once the Coordinators' Pokémon had fully recovered. If any Pokémon were too badly injured to recover in time, however, the final would be postponed until the following morning. All in all, the organizers were quite considerate.
Robert's strength far exceeded his opponent's, so he passed the semifinal with nearly full points and advanced to the final. After a half-hour intermission, it was finally Drew and Liu Yuan's turn to take the stage.
When the two appeared, they no longer argued as they had before. Instead, they stared at each other with solemn expressions. Once Vivian finished introducing them, Drew threw his Poké Balls first. "Go! Roselia, Masquerain!"
"Come on out, Clefairy, Leafeon!" Liu Yuan threw his Poké Balls at the same time.
"Then let the match begin!" Seeing that both were ready, Vivian immediately announced the start.
"Roselia, Magical Leaf! Masquerain, Silver Wind!" Drew seized the initiative.
Roselia stretched out its arms and unleashed a mass of magical leaves. Stirred by Masquerain's Silver Wind, they became not only more beautiful
