"Cacturne, Spikes!" Han Ye ordered first.
"Cacturne has laid Spikes! Any Pokémon Liu Qing switches in will take damage!" the announcer continued to explain.
"He really caught me off guard!" Through the swirling sand, Liu Qing could barely make out Han Ye's hazy silhouette. After a brief moment of reflection, he regained his composure and ordered, "Volcarona, use Bug Buzz!" Volcarona immediately flew higher, its wings vibrating at high frequency as red sound waves swept over the entire battlefield below.
"Volcarona has used Bug Buzz! Even Cacturne's Sand Veil Technique can't evade this move! Cacturne has taken heavy damage!" the announcer called out.
"Cacturne, use Spikes again!" Seemingly unconcerned by Volcarona's attack, Han Ye gave the same command.
"A second layer of Spikes!" the announcer counted loudly.
"Volcarona, use Bug Buzz again!" In the swirling sand, Bug Buzz was the only move that remained useful. Although Fire Blast could inflict heavy damage on Cacturne, its accuracy was already low, and the sand and Cacturne's Sand Veil Technique would reduce it even further.
"Cacturne, keep using Spikes!" Han Ye ordered calmly.
The spikes covering Cacturne's body glowed white again, turning into countless streaks of white light that flew out and burrowed into the battlefield. But just as Cacturne successfully laid another layer of Spikes, Bug Buzz struck it, knocking it out on the spot.
"Cacturne is unable to battle! Volcarona wins!" the referee announced.
"Cacturne, you've done everything you needed to. Get some rest now!" Han Ye recalled Cacturne into its Poké Ball, then threw his sixth Poké Ball. "Absol, you're up!"
"Cacturne went down after laying three layers of Spikes! Han Ye's sixth Pokémon is Absol!" the announcer explained.
"What a frightening strategist. He sent out a Pokémon solely to inflict massive damage on Liu Qing's next Pokémon!" Brock sighed.
