Medarida Island was covered in primeval forest. From the helicopter, it looked like a sea of green, with an ancient stone palace rising at its center. The helicopter landed in the clearing before the palace. At the entrance stood a bald, white-bearded old man holding a wooden scepter, mysterious tattoos etched across his skin. Liu Qing's pupils contracted at his first glimpse of him. Though the old man stood there plainly, he seemed completely at one with his surroundings. This was the power of nature! His identity was unmistakable.
"Yūcon, this is the Pokémon Trainer I contacted you about yesterday, the one coming to challenge you." Scott clearly held Yūcon in great respect.
"Hello, Mr. Yūcon. My name is Liu Qing, and I'm here to challenge the Battle Arena," Liu Qing said, stepping forward.
"Very well. I shall give it my all." Yūcon agreed with a nod. He looked up at the sky, then said to Liu Qing, "The weather is lovely today. Liu Qing, what do you say we hold our match outside, under this cloudless sky?"
"Is there a battlefield outside too?" Liu Qing asked.
"Of course. There's a battle platform right here in the primeval forest," Scott said with a smile.
"Oh, that sounds interesting." As a member of the Wave Wind Family, Liu Qing's longing for the sky ran through his blood and was etched into his bones. Naturally, he would not refuse an outdoor match.
"Then let me explain the rules!" Scott continued. "Each side will use four Pokémon. The match ends when all of one side's Pokémon are unable to battle. I imagine you won't switch Pokémon midway through, Liu Qing, so we won't add a rule about that."
"No problem!" Liu Qing nodded.
