Ch. 81Huo Yuhao wanted to show off
Plot points and events
- Leaders of the Sun Moon Empire’s fourteen qualifying teams protest the group assignments, which force many of their academies to compete against one another. They accuse the Star Luo Empire of rigging the draw and disadvantaging them.
- Jing Hongchen rejects an immediate appeal or retaliation. With the draw already public and the other powers aligned, he advises the teams to keep competing and save their revenge for the next Tournament, which the Sun Moon Empire will host.
- Emperor Xu Jiawei confirms that he ordered the assignments to concentrate Sun Moon teams in the same group. He knowingly risks future retaliation because he believes Shrek Academy’s strength will protect the Star Luo Empire.
- Shrek’s opening opponent is Dou Ling Advanced Academy. Ma Xiaotao offers to face its Soul King, but Wang Yan refuses: her evil fire could endanger others, and he wants to preserve Shrek’s strongest fighter.
- Ling Luochen is chosen instead. Though still recovering, she has regained about seventy percent of her strength and is considered capable of handling the opponent.
- Shrek’s lineup is finalized: Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong, He Caitou, Xiao Xiao, Bei Bei, Jiang Nannan, and Ling Luochen. Just before the match, Huo Yuhao tells his teammates to hold back while he puts on a show.
Character developments and interactions
- Jing Hongchen acts as a practical leader, urging unity among Sun Moon academies abroad while discouraging a futile challenge to the draw. He openly promises revenge when the next Tournament is on Sun Moon’s home ground.
- Xu Jiawei reveals himself as calculating and unapologetic: he deliberately manipulated the draw to favor Shrek and sees its power as a shield against Sun Moon retaliation.
- Wang Yan prioritizes safety and strategy over Ma Xiaotao’s confidence, keeping her evil fire and Shrek’s full strength in reserve.
- Ma Xiaotao is eager to fight and insists she can control her power, but Wang Yan does not trust the risk.
- Huo Yuhao takes the initiative and hints at a surprise for Dou Ling. Wang Dong immediately understands his intent, showing their close rapport.
