At the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, Tetsuya wanted to see that boy Kagaya Ubuyashiki, only to be stopped by his daughter Nichika.
"I'm sorry, Lord Illusion Hashira. The Master is unwell and cannot receive visitors right now."
"Kagaya is unwell?"
Tetsuya frowned. He had intended to use the Hashira training as an excuse to check on him, lest that boy Kagaya Ubuyashiki once again use himself as bait and blow himself up along with his wife, daughters, and Muzan. An ordinary explosion couldn't kill Muzan.
"Yes. I'm sorry, Lord Illusion Hashira. Please wait until the Master's health..."
Before Nichika could finish, Tetsuya hit her with a genjutsu.
Under the genjutsu's influence, Nichika obediently stepped aside.
Tetsuya opened the door and walked straight in.
Inside the room, Kagaya Ubuyashiki lay on the tatami. His entire face was wrapped in bandages, and he seemed far weaker than before.
His wife, Amane Ubuyashiki, knelt beside him, tending to him.
Seeing Tetsuya barge straight in, Amane Ubuyashiki immediately stood up.
"How did you get in here? Didn't we say..."
"Amane!"
Kagaya Ubuyashiki caught Amane's hand.
Tetsuya looked at the weakened Kagaya.
"Has the curse gotten worse again?"
"Yes. It started two days ago."
Kagaya gave a weak smile. Although he was clearly suffering terribly, Tetsuya still saw no trace of fear in his eyes.
"You've certainly made your peace with it. You aren't afraid at all."
"Why should I be afraid?"
He smiled as he asked the question in return, then continued.
"This is a curse, the curse Kibutsuji Muzan placed upon our family.
I've long since accepted my fate. Why should I still fear death?
I just feel it's a pity.
