I had just come back from outside and sat down to write when I discovered that yesterday's scheduled chapters hadn't gone out. Here are two chapters in a row, and my apologies.
The Beast Scroll tore apart in Rex's hands, and a warm current began spreading through his body. The Holy Light, which had been suppressed by the pressure on his soul, began rising in successive waves. Strictly speaking, this was Rex's first time using a Beast Scroll. The treasures he had acquired were too precious for him to use recklessly. He had never doubted their stated effects, so there had been no need to test them.
Once again, Rex felt the exhilaration of his strength soaring. That blissful sensation made him think that nothing in the world felt better than a sudden surge in power. It surpassed everything else. The boost from the Beast Scroll was completely invisible on the surface, because Rex was deliberately suppressing it. This moment was precisely why he had not used the Beast Scroll at the outset.
Scott had been stronger than Rex from the start, so using the Beast Scroll immediately would have been the last resort. But for Rex, it was not the best choice. Scott's strength was infinitely close to Hero Rank, and even with the Beast Scroll, Rex was not particularly confident he could defeat him. Here, Rex could only rely on cunning.
And so, at this moment, Rex suppressed the surge of strength from the Beast Scroll, keeping it from showing outwardly.
Already accustomed to Rex's speed, Scott failed to notice his sudden increase in strength. The Beast Scroll's enhancement covered every aspect. Strength was made up of many factors-physical power, speed, Holy Light-all of which came together to form that single word: "strength."
