In the middle of the battlefield, Rex had suddenly shown signs of a breakthrough. Scott was not the only one who noticed; Ulysses and the others had realized it as well, so they had come over from farther away to join those protecting Rex.
A group of guards surrounded Rex, keeping him at their center. Ulysses had not appeared immediately because Rex was there. Having reached Hero Rank, Rex could keep anyone on the battlefield from harming Rachel as long as he remained beside the Grand Marshal. No one had expected Rex to begin another breakthrough in the blink of an eye.
Ulysses found it strange, too. Rex had only recently broken through, producing astonishing phenomena that anyone with some knowledge would recognize. Only a few days had passed, yet Rex was about to break through again. How could Ulysses not be puzzled? Even advancing from the first tier to the second could not happen so quickly, let alone Rex's current advance from early hero to mid-hero. The difference between the two was immeasurable.
Strange though it was, that did not affect Ulysses's efforts to protect Rex and Rachel.
