Cool gray-white clouds unexpectedly veiled the seven-colored rainbow high above, and rain kept pouring down.

Raindrops beat against the hut's taut hide canopy like a rapid drumroll. The hut was well built, letting not a drop of rain inside, though dampness spread inexorably through it. Standing in the doorway and gazing out at the white curtain of rain, Rex was in a fine mood, entirely unaffected by the thunderstorm.

Footsteps sounded through the rain. A dark figure strode swiftly toward the hut, cutting through the downpour. A sharp gleam flashed in Rex's eyes as he recognized the visitor.

"Ulysses, look how pale you are. You've exhausted too much of your strength. Right now, even a third-rank assassin could take your life," Rex scolded when he saw him.

Ulysses said nothing. Only after stepping beneath the eaves did he breathe a sigh of relief. The power radiating from his body slowly dissipated, and a little color returned to his pale face. At Rex's words, he began to complain. "This damned weather. The rain came out of nowhere. I couldn't let anyone see me looking like a drowned rat."

"I, Ulysses, must always be the most handsome man around."

Ulysses spoke casually. Rex was not a stern man, and outside formal occasions, people like Rona and Ulysses were quite relaxed around him.

Rex shook his head gently. Ulysses's attitude rather reminded him of people in his previous life who would freeze to death without regret for the sake of looking young and beautiful.

To keep the rain from soaking him and ruining his appearance, Ulysses had drawn on the energy within his body, forming a dense barrier overhead to serve as an umbrella.
