The throne room was an enormous chamber built from marble and other stone, with a soaring vaulted ceiling. An octagonal window at its center provided ample natural light, while torches burned fiercely in wall sconces, adding illumination and bathing the room in an orange glow. A series of intricate circular patterns adorned the floor around the emblem of Lordaeron, though a scarlet carpet now covered them.

King Genn sat on the jewel-encrusted throne atop the dais, his wrinkles obscured by a radiant smile. He wore a handsome, finely tailored robe embroidered with gleaming gold thread against blue and purple. Seated on the throne, King Genn suddenly felt ten years younger. As he looked at the young king before him, his envy of youth vanished. "Welcome, young king!" King Genn warmly greeted Varian, who had only just entered middle age, like a kindly elder.

"It is a pleasure to see you," Varian said politely, a hint of complicated emotion in his eyes as he looked at King Genn on the throne.
