The long blade swept across the sky. Rex saw the flickering soul flames in Dar'Khan's eyes and understood what they meant: mockery.
That strike posed no threat whatsoever to Dar'Khan. How could Rex not know that? He simply refused to accept it.
He felt the spell pierce his chest, driving through the wound a Ghoul had clawed open. When a protagonist faced a crisis, some mighty expert was supposed to appear and save him, but no one came. Apparently, he wasn't the protagonist after all. Self-mockery surfaced in Rex's eyes.
Watching the Undead moving ahead, he knew he could break through if he had another Beast Scroll. Even without one, he could have escaped if he had been at his peak.
Rex spat out a mouthful of blood. Looking down at his chest, a thought stirred inside him. If only there were a potion that could restore me to my peak. How wonderful would that be? I wouldn't have to die.
The moment that thought surfaced, it exploded through his mind like a thunderclap. Rex suddenly remembered that he had a Healing Potion capable of replenishing vitality-the Greater Potion of Healing!
