Rex explained the Holy Light

Outside Lordaeron City, bright sunlight shone over the land.

Naturally, the Gnoll army could not be stationed inside Lordaeron City. There were over a hundred thousand of these nonhumans. Not only would King Genn feel uneasy about them, but even Rex could not truly trust them. If they turned hostile, they could cause enormous unrest.

The Gnoll army was kept under strict control. Its camp was some distance from Lordaeron City, and the Gnolls were strictly forbidden from moving about freely. They had very little time for daily activities. Aside from their required training, they spent the rest of their time resting in their tents. In particular, the camp housed not only the Gnoll army, but also the Kingdom of Gilneas's Third Legion and Second Army. All of them were gathered together to prevent any uprising among the Gnolls.

Rex's first impression of these Gnolls was that they were filthy, disorderly, and undisciplined. He had no objection to that. They were cannon fodder, after all, not regular soldiers he intended to train, so he did not need to devote much effort to them. The training they were receiving now was merely intended to get them working together so they would not descend into a chaotic mob.

By the time Rex returned to Lordaeron from the camp, the sky had begun to darken. A dusky yellow glow appeared on the distant horizon as the sun sank in the west.
