Sicco Thermaplugg made his move. It was remarkably simple: he unleashed his Soul Pressure.

Soul Pressure had little effect on opponents of the same caliber, but it was an excellent skill for crushing weaker foes. His eyes were icy, and a terrifying aura radiated from his small frame. In the blink of an eye, it swept through the surroundings, enveloping every Night Elf hidden in the shadows.

Night Elves were born with power over shadows, just as High Elves had an innate affinity for the arcane. The Night Elves concealed in the forest had chosen shadowy spots, where their natural talents made them extremely difficult to detect. But to Rex and his companions, they stood out like fireflies in the night, drawing their enemies' attention.

It was not that they were incompetent. Their opponents were simply too powerful.

"What is this? What a strange sensation." Surprise appeared on Rex's face as he carefully examined this unusual Soul Pressure.

The most common principle behind Soul Pressure was simply to exert pressure on the soul, inflicting a series of negative effects such as sluggishness and stiffness. Those were physical effects produced by particularly powerful Soul Pressure. Most Soul Pressure, however, acted on the mind, shaking a person's resolve and making them crumble without a fight.

The latter might have seemed stronger, but that was not the case. The first kind was far superior to the second. The second kind of Soul Pressure had little effect on people with firm wills or unwavering convictions, making it much less effective than the first.

Yet the Soul Pressure Sicco Thermaplugg was releasing belonged to neither category. Its effects were unlike anything Rex had ever seen-or even heard of. It felt very strange.
