Rex knew that establishing a Vocational School to teach magic and expecting it to rival Dalaran's magic schools, or even surpass them, was completely unrealistic for now.
In this world of supernatural power, magic was the most important of the mystical forces!
Gilneas had a long road ahead if it wanted to surpass Dalaran. Even with Aegwynn joining them, success would be no simple matter.
It was not just a question of the teaching environment, but the atmosphere as well. What sort of place was Dalaran?
It was known as the Magic Kingdom. Walking through its streets, the people one was most likely to see were Mages. Sixty percent of all human Mages gathered in Dalaran, while the remaining forty percent were spread across the other kingdoms. That forty percent even included each kingdom's corps of Royal Mages. Those corps were trained by the royal families themselves and were their staunchest supporters, cultivated with the resources of an entire kingdom. Their numbers were considerable, yet even so, most Mages still gathered in Dalaran.
Dalaran was also the main market for magical items. When it came to anything related to magic, Dalaran ranked first across the board. There was simply no comparison.
This was not a problem Rex could solve merely by finding a powerful Mage to serve as headmaster. That was unrealistic, and Rex knew it.
Thus, Rex believed there was little hope of surpassing Dalaran. Even if there was hope, it could not be accomplished quickly. At the very least, he had no such ambitions for the first five years.
That was why, from the outset, Rex had never intended the Vocational School to focus solely on magic or teach only Mages. The name he had chosen made that clear. "Vocational" sounded neither grand nor lofty. On the contrary,
