The dull sounds rang out through the courtyard, one after another.
Rex gently turned the skull in his hands, his eyes intent and focused as he examined it closely. There was not a trace of impatience in his expression, as though he were gazing at someone he loved.
After a long while, Rex gave up his examination and tossed the skull to his side. The archmage reached out a wrinkled hand and caught it precisely.
Rex spoke at an unhurried pace. "How is your research into the Skull of Gul'dan coming along?"
"It's filled with a powerful force. If it erupted, it could destroy half of Lordaeron City in an instant." The archmage gently stroked the Skull of Gul'dan, then took a clean white handkerchief from his robes and began wiping it carefully.
His eyes remained utterly focused, without the slightest distraction, as he answered casually.
"Destroy half of Lordaeron City? Are you sure you haven't misjudged it?" Rex's tone was full of doubt.
"No mistake." The archmage's reply was brief but firm.
His answer left Rex silent.
