The Eastern Kingdoms, the Lordaeron Subcontinent.

The Industrial Base on the outskirts of Lordaeron City.

The Council Hall!

The representatives of the various kingdoms were now seated, each wearing a different expression. Some smiled, some remained expressionless, and some seemed lost in thought. No two were quite alike.

Jaina and Sylvanas had understood his intentions perfectly, and Rex, seated at the head of the table, was immensely pleased.

Still, he did not let a trace of that satisfaction show on his face.

Expressionless and unruffled, he quietly gazed ahead.

By now, the silence in the room had vanished completely.

If only one person had spoken, the others could have continued to remain silent. But with Sylvanas raising the bid, that silence could no longer hold.

Some of them could no longer sit still. The dwarf beside Rex, for instance, was among the most eager.

The Wired Telegraph appealed to them far more than it did to the others. Dwarves were intensely interested in the technology it contained.

Nor were the dwarves alone in their interest. The goblins felt the same way.

Of the three races determined to acquire the Wired Telegraph, two were the dwarves and the goblins. The third, the gnomes, could not be overlooked either.

The three races most skilled in technology on Azeroth had all gathered here. By comparison, Rex was not particularly concerned with Stormwind City or Dalaran. In his mind, the race that would ultimately spend the gold to purchase the Wired Telegraph would be one of those three. More precisely, it would be either the dwarves or the goblins. Although the gnomes were determined to acquire it, their current predicament left them unable to compete effectively.

The gnomes had lost their own capital and were now living in Ironforge. That arrangement was hardly free.
