Rex held a banquet for Jaina, and midway through it, he met the archmage.

The archmage's return brought Rex some unwelcome news. His contact with the Draenei had gone anything but smoothly, with complications at every turn.

Rex was not particularly concerned about what the archmage had experienced along the way. What truly concerned him was the result.

At Rex's level, the process was no longer his chief consideration in many matters. He only needed results.

The reason was simple: a person's energy was limited. He could not know everything or concern himself with every detail. Rex did not have that kind of energy. Even a god could not manage it.

The Draenei were extremely wary and had refused the archmage's help. Once he appeared aboard the Draenei Ship, they guarded against his every move. Worse still, he had not even managed to meet Velen on this visit.

Rex frowned at that, looking at the archmage's snowy white hair.

Rex had already anticipated that making contact this way would feel somewhat abrupt. Ultimately, it could not compare with letting everything progress gradually until contact came naturally when the time was right.

He had therefore expected difficulties.

But he had never imagined things would be so difficult that the archmage could not even meet Velen.

When he first heard the archmage's account, Rex's immediate thought was that it was impossible. Though he had never met Velen, he knew him as an elder full of wisdom. With that wisdom, even if Velen was wary of the archmage's intentions, he should not have refused to see him.
