It Really Wasn't Easy

The power went out this morning. It eventually came back, but the internet didn't. What a headache. This was my first time writing without internet access, and it always felt as though something was missing. I really wasn't getting much done. A bitter wind howled relentlessly through the Blasted Lands.

Along the coast, the terrain was bare, with no trees to block the wind. It swept in from the sea, howling across the Blasted Lands.

It turned the Blasted Lands into a frozen wasteland, where the temperature was extremely low.

Rex had already felt it as he walked across the Blasted Lands.

He carefully studied the terrain. This was his first visit to the Blasted Lands, and everything seemed very quiet.

There were hardly any wild beasts, either. The real Blasted Lands were utterly different from those in the game. Not a blade of grass grew here, and there was nothing at all. Wild beasts simply could not survive in such a place, unlike the game, where monsters were everywhere.

Naturally, the game needed things to be that way. Reality was different.

Even if there had been that many wild beasts here at first, they would all have died by now.

Only two places in the entire Blasted Lands still showed signs of life. One was Nethergarde Keep, and the other was where the ogres lived.

That made the place look utterly desolate. Rex studied the terrain as he walked.

The journey was peaceful. Rex had originally thought the Two-Headed Ogre Mage who had fled might refuse to accept defeat and lead a large force of ogres to surround and kill him. But nothing of the sort happened. The Two-Headed Ogre Mage never appeared again, so Rex's journey remained uneventful.
