I did manage to finish writing before midnight.

After seeing Vincent off, Rex sprang into action. He sent someone to deliver a message to the archmage, then personally began making arrangements in Lordaeron City.

He was gathering the Gryphon Riders. There were quite a few gryphons in Lordaeron City, thanks to a bonus effect of the Gryphon Aviary in his Warcraft System.

Gryphon production had increased as a result, but few had actually been trained as mounts.

Even fewer were used in battle.

This was not because the gryphons were inadequate, but because the Kingdom of Gilneas had limited funds. Every gold coin had to be spent where it was needed.

For instance, the Gryphon Riders had always been maintained as a single guard unit of five hundred men. That was the limit of what the Kingdom of Gilneas could support. It simply could not afford any more.

After all, taming a wild gryphon into a mount took considerable effort and resources. Turning that mount into a war mount capable of coordinating with its rider in battle cost even more.

Although Gilneas had not expanded the unit, it had never let its gryphon breeding efforts lapse.

Even if Gilneas could not train the gryphons itself, it could still sell them. For the past two years, the Kingdom of Gilneas had been selling gryphons to Kul Tiras.

This was something Rex had promised Jaina back then. Naturally, he would not casually sell a rare resource like gryphons to just anyone. Stormwind City, for instance, was out of the question.

It was just as Stormwind City refused to sell Gilneas any warhorses from Elwynn Forest.
