After agonizing over it for half a day, Rex still had no idea how to get the gold he needed. Had he been in Gilneas, he would not have had to worry. The caravan had done quite well at making money over the past few years and had accumulated a considerable stockpile of gold.

Rex set the matter of the Archmage aside for the time being. Without money, any discussion was pointless. Once the Strahnbrad Defense ended and Uther and Arthas brought the main force to relieve Southshore, the crisis would be over, and this Orc uprising would essentially be quelled. But Arthas was young and hotheaded. He certainly would not leave it at that. He would press his advantage, eliminate the Orc threat completely, and wipe out the Blackrock Clan.

He had not forgotten that he had left Gilneas with many objectives, the most important of which was obtaining the Black Crystal needed to forge the Ashbringer. Once the crisis in Southshore was resolved, he would depart for Lordaeron. The sooner he got his hands on it, the sooner he could rest easy.
