As Rex made his choice, the eight humanoid models inside the Tavern began to change. The Beastmaster among them came to life, all the lifelessness vanishing from his body.

His half-closed eyes began to open.

The moment the Beastmaster opened his eyes, all the other heroes beside him dissolved into rays of light, shimmering before Rex.

Rex glanced over. The Dark Ranger and all the others had vanished.

This disappointed him greatly. The change had completely dashed his hopes of recruiting any of the other heroes.

To be honest, this Beastmaster would be the greatest help to Rex, but the hero he most wanted to recruit was definitely not the Beastmaster before him. It was someone else: the Dark Ranger.
