Nothing.
There was still no sign of Duke Falconcrest.
Rex listened to the report without letting his expression change, but inwardly, he was deeply displeased. Duke Falconcrest had been the most important target in this assault on Alterac City. He was a pivotal figure, the symbol and backbone of the Syndicate. One could say that the Syndicate owed its present development to him-no, that was hardly the right way to put it.
Rather, Duke Falconcrest deserved the greatest credit for founding the Syndicate and leading it forward, step by step. Rex could not rest easy with that old man, whose resolve had only grown stronger with age, still alive. This time, he had intended to end Duke Falconcrest's life once and for all, but events clearly had not unfolded as he had expected.
There had still been no news of Duke Falconcrest, not even a report that he had attempted to break out. How was that possible?
Syndicate members were now fleeing Alterac City in every direction, rushing out in an effort to save themselves. Even these ordinary members knew to run. How could Duke Falconcrest, their leader, fail to do the same?
Rex did not believe for a moment that Duke Falconcrest had suddenly found his courage, abandoned any thought of escape, and decided to live or die with the Syndicate. Such an idea could never have entered the duke's mind.
Duke Falconcrest would certainly choose to flee. To Rex, the lack of any news about him meant only one thing: his ability to escape had exceeded their expectations, leaving the Gilnean forces without the slightest clue. There was no other explanation that made sense.
Although Rex had the Crystal Ball, it could only watch one direction. It could not keep a close eye on every side of Alterac
