Rex wore a grim expression the entire time after leaving Ironforge.
In Rex's eyes, there were secrets surrounding the events in the Blade's Edge Mountains. The High Tinker knew absolutely nothing about what was happening there, and Rex had established that much from their conversation.
That Gnome had repeatedly requested resources to develop the Gnome camp in the Blade's Edge Mountains, expanding his people's influence. His actions had considerable implications. Had the High Tinker known about it, this would have been an effort by the Gnomes to expand their power in Outland. But the High Tinker knew nothing, which meant that Gnome was acting on his own initiative. The first suspicion this raised for Rex was that there was something in the Blade's Edge Mountains.
The Blade's Edge Mountains were frighteningly desolate. Apart from bare mountain peaks, there was nothing but barren land. The place was even worse than the Barrens in Azeroth. Despite its name, the Barrens still had land that could be cultivated and oases where plants could grow. The Blade's Edge Mountains had virtually nothing. The occasional patch of vegetation did little to change that.
Yet that Gnome had no intention of leaving such a place. To Rex, that alone was a sign that something was wrong.
Rex had told the Gnome more than once that, if circumstances allowed, they could leave the Blade's Edge Mountains and establish a camp elsewhere.
Outland was vast, and there were many places the Alliance had yet to fully occupy. Leaving the other regions aside, there was Zangarmarsh, which had always received particular attention from Rex.
Zangarmarsh covered a considerable area, and the Alliance occupied only one corner of it. If the Gnomes wanted to establish a camp there, it would hardly be difficult. If Zangarmarsh did not satisfy them, they
