Rex watched the fighting before him, watching the monsters surrounding the Goblin Shop being killed one after another.
Yet his eyes were slightly unfocused. Clearly, his attention was not here at all. His mind had already wandered off, occupied with something else. The battle before him continued, and although Rex was distracted, he had ample experience with this kind of fighting. What he needed to do had long since become second nature to him.
Even with his attention divided, he kept the situation firmly under control.
As time passed, Rex cleared away the monsters outside the Goblin Shop. Seeing that their ranks had thinned enough for him to get through, he gathered his thoughts. Weapon in hand, he strode forward and charged straight toward the Goblin Shop. Moving swiftly through the wind, he soon rushed inside. The Goblin Shop remained as unchanging as ever, no different at all from his previous visit.
The Goblin sat on the counter, swinging his two short legs. In his hand was a green fruit marked with three yellow stripes, which he was munching on.
Rex could not identify the fruit at all. He only saw the Goblin eating it with relish, taking one bite after another.
When the Goblin saw Rex stride inside, he reached out, and a fruit rose from behind the counter. With a gentle wave of his hand, he sent it flying high into the air before it landed in Rex's hand.
Rex caught the fruit and dispensed with any politeness, biting straight into it.
He did not really register its taste, but the power emanating from the fruit gave him a faint, pleasant surprise.
The power released by the fruit spread through Rex's body, merging into it and slowly nourishing it.
