Background / History
Founding and Reformation
After defeating and subjugating Blood Skull Old Man, Ye Chen turns the Blood Skull Stronghold into the Heavenly Star Pavilion. He prohibits harming innocents and makes its former leader Steward Blood Skull. Black Wind Mountain is intended as a foundation for influencing the wider Primordial World, not merely as conquered territory. Its proximity to the Demon-Burying Abyss also supports Ye Chen’s search for ancient fragments and a “variable” capable of changing the realm’s condition 23.
The reformation takes three days. Ye Yun cripples the cultivation of dozens of deeply wicked, unrepentant members and expels them; those permitted to remain swear never to betray their new masters. Shi Meng and Mo Yu destroy nearby bandit gangs, while Steward Blood Skull reorganizes stores, personnel, and rules. Ye Ling’s restoration of a small valley gives former bandits and local cultivators a reason to support the new organization beyond fear 24.
Confrontation with Established Powers
Reports of the Pavilion’s environmental restoration attract immediate attention. Inspector Jin Sheng withdraws his forces rather than risk direct confrontation, while the Blood Demon Sect orders surveillance with the intention of acquiring its purification method. The Heavenly Sword Pavilion initially remains cautious about Ye Chen’s unknown origins 25.
When Jin Wu and Blood Demon Sect Elder Xue Li arrive demanding access to Ye Chen and his methods, Shi Meng and Ye Yun enforce the Pavilion’s visitor rules. Ye Chen rejects their coercion and sends both delegations flying hundreds of zhang away. News of their humiliation deters nearby factions and strengthens unity among both former stronghold members and new recruits 31 32.
Alliance and Mountain-Gate Dispute
Lin Qingxue proposes an alliance on behalf of the Heavenly Sword Pavilion, warning that the Sacred Emperor Palace plans to recruit or suppress Ye Chen. He accepts and delegates negotiations to Ye Yun. The preliminary agreement establishes intelligence sharing, trade, and mutual aid 41 42.
The alliance is challenged when Heavenly Sword Pavilion Elder Yan arrives at Black Wind Mountain, accuses Qingxue of leaking intelligence, and demands Ye Chen’s submission. The mountain formation holds back Yan’s pressure, and Ye Chen destroys his Sword Qi attack against Ye Yun. Lingyun Sword Emperor intervenes, confirms his approval of the alliance, rebukes Yan, and apologizes. Ye Chen accepts the resolution and keeps the alliance in effect 46 47.
Expansion and the Forest Sea Expedition
By Ye Chen’s return from Azure Cloud Peak, Black Wind Mountain has developed new halls, dwellings, training grounds, medicinal fields, mines, and watchtowers. He promises rewards according to merit and inspects the newly established Pill and Artifact Hall and Scripture Pavilion 49.
For the subsequent Endless Forest Sea expedition, Ye Chen takes Emperor Xuanwu, Ye Yun, Mo Yu, and Lin Qingxue. Shi Meng and Ye Ling remain behind to protect the Pavilion 49 50.

Rules and Recruitment
- Protection of innocents: Ye Chen explicitly forbids harming innocent people 23.
- Character-based admission: Applicants may join regardless of background if they pass a character assessment 24.
- Specialist recruitment: Priority goes to cultivators skilled in alchemy, artifact refining, formations, and ancient secrets 24.
- Loyalty requirements: Retained members of the former stronghold are bound by Soul Oaths against betrayal 24.
- Restricted entry: Under level-two alert, unauthorized entry into the mountain-gate formation requires Ye Chen’s written order 30.
- Sensitive information: Knowledge of the Abyss altar, its remnant soul, and Ye Chen’s theories about the world’s confinement is restricted to a few trusted subordinates 30.
- Merit rewards: Ye Chen orders outstanding contributors to be identified and rewarded 49.
Capabilities
Mountain Defense
- Ye Chen devises the Five Elements Immortal-Slaying Formation by adapting a Ye Clan formation to Black Wind Mountain’s terrain. It can trap and kill early-stage Void Insight cultivators 30.
- Ye Yun, Shi Meng, and Mo Yu receive marks granting partial control and permission to activate it against attackers without seeking further approval 30.
- The mountain defense is later called the Five-Element Mountain-Guarding Formation. It holds Elder Yan’s mid-stage Void Insight pressure at bay during the gate confrontation 47.
- Mo Yu and guest elders skilled in formations subsequently improve its power by thirty percent 49.
Environmental Restoration
- Ye Ling’s Life Law revives damaged vegetation, moderates aggressive baleful energy, and clears a polluted spring until it begins releasing pure spiritual energy 24.
- Restoration initially covers only a few li; the baleful energy is eased rather than completely removed. Emperor Xuanwu cautions that the realm’s flawed Great Dao may limit the work 24.
- Continued purification supports spirit plants, medicinal fields, and a more hospitable cultivation environment. Ye Chen identifies the restored land as central to attracting talent 30 40 49.
Reconnaissance and Research
- Scouts monitor activity by the Sacred Emperor Palace and Blood Demon Sect, while Mo Yu tracks increased surveillance and infiltration threats 30 49.
- Ye Xiaoshan combines local accounts, Old Man Greenstone’s map, and artifact resonance to draft routes into the Demon-Burying Abyss. Shifting terrain and disruptive energies make these maps reference material rather than reliable guides 24 27.
- Specialized recruits broaden the Pavilion’s support capabilities beyond fighting, supplying expertise useful to Ye Chen’s exploration 24.
Headquarters and Resources
- Chen Hall — Ye Chen’s headquarters for reports, strategic meetings, receiving Lin Qingxue, and secluded study 30 40 49.
- Guest Reception Pavilion — One of several stone halls built near the main peak under Ye Ling’s direction; replaces the former Blood Skull Cave as a suitable reception space 26.
- Purified valley and spring — The starting point of Black Wind Mountain’s restoration and an expanding source of spiritual energy 24 27 30.
- Medicinal fields and Spirit Plant Garden — Nourished by diverted spiritual streams; qi-condensing grass and origin-stabilizing flowers approach their first harvest 49.
- Pill and Artifact Hall; Scripture Pavilion — Newly established facilities inspected by Ye Chen 49.
- Training grounds and disciple dwellings — Practical buildings and spaces supporting organized training for hundreds of disciples 49.
- Mines and watchtowers — Part of an expanding resource and defensive network; mining teams discover a small scarlet flame iron vein fifty li northeast of the mountain 49.
- Starwatch Terrace — A high-ground retreat behind Chen Hall with an unobstructed view of the stars 49.
Relationships
- Heavenly Sword Pavilion — Formal ally in intelligence sharing, trade, and mutual aid. Internal opposition briefly threatens cooperation, but Lingyun Sword Emperor publicly reaffirms the alliance 41 42 47.
- Lin Qingxue — Alliance intermediary and expedition companion. Ye Chen promises the Pavilion’s support as long as she remains faithful to the alliance 41 48 50.
- Void Divine Hall / True Person Yunhe — A developing cooperative connection, not a declared formal alliance. Yunhe supplies spatial intelligence, a communication token, and regional maps; Ye Chen grants him the first opportunity to trade for relevant discoveries from the Forest Sea 26 30 49.
- Sacred Emperor Palace — Hostile power that investigates and monitors the Pavilion, attempts to pressure its master, and participates in ambushes against him 25 31 32 41 46.
- Blood Demon Sect — Seeks to seize the Pavilion’s purification method, sends a coercive envoy, maintains surveillance, and attacks Ye Chen 25 31 46 49.
- Netherworld Palace — Three of its assassins join the ambush against Ye Chen and his companions after their Starfall Hall visit; Ye Chen destroys them 46.
