Chen Miao and Ge Feng chatted for a long time. Ge Feng lost his initial reserve, but Chen Miao could tell that their relationship would never be as casual as it had been before.
After getting into bed, Chen Miao did nothing else. Instead, he extended his perception and "looked" into Zhu Sheng's room next door. If his guess was right, something would happen tonight.
Chen Miao waited until around two in the morning. Finally, he "saw" two figures arrive outside Zhu Sheng's door. They used a tool to pry open the latch, gently pushed the door open, and went inside.
The two stopped beside Zhu Sheng's bed.
A moment later, one climbed onto the bed and straddled Zhu Sheng, while the other reached for his neck and began to strangle him.
Zhu Sheng jolted awake and struggled.
But the person on the bed had already pinned his body down. He could only stare at the vicious face before him.
"Why you? You only just got here!"
"If I can't make it, neither will you! Die!"
Fury blazed in Zhu Sheng's eyes as he heard those words.
He kicked out with both legs, propelling himself forward just far enough for his upper body to slide off the head of the bed and hang in midair.
The movement threw the person crouched over him off balance.
In that fleeting instant, Zhu Sheng pulled his hand out from beneath the covers. A cold gleam flashed and plunged into the chest of the man at the head of the bed. The hands around Zhu Sheng's neck loosened. He barely had time to draw a breath before driving his dagger into the person on top of him. A scream rang out, and the man scrambled away. Zhu Sheng was finally free.
