Tianmen County originally had no such thing as a director. It only had an Administration outpost, staffed by just two Grade-D Investigators, Chen Kun and Tong Yu.
Because of Chen Miao, that outpost in Tianmen County had been upgraded directly into a Branch Administration.
Even without his title of honorary consultant, Chen Miao held a position equal to that of the director of the Shannan City Administration.
Although Tianmen County now had a Branch Administration, neither its number of rank-and-file Investigators nor its supporting facilities would increase.
Normally, a Branch Administration had various departments and facilities, such as an archives room, investigation rooms, and a dungeon where cultivators could be held.
Tianmen County had none of those. It only had the name and authority of a Branch Administration; for everything else, it still had to use Shannan City's facilities.
That might have sounded a little shabby, but it suited Chen Miao perfectly.
Dan Yang had originally planned to provide Chen Miao with all those things once the situation in Great Xia stabilized, but Chen Miao had refused outright.
He had status without having to manage a mountain of miscellaneous affairs. All he needed to do was look after their little patch of Tianmen County with two old acquaintances.
How could Chen Miao possibly let Dan Yang ruin such a cushy arrangement?
On his journey home, Chen Miao traveled in high-speed rail business class. Lin'an City's airport had been destroyed, so planes could no longer land there.
Speaking of business class, Chen Miao did feel rather wistful.
Not because he could finally ride in business class, but because what had once been a direct journey to Shannan City now required three transfers.
The reason, naturally, was that some railway tracks had been destroyed by the Mountain Physiognomy Organization's feng shui formations.
