Selecting believers?
Chen Miao was taken aback by Chen Jizhen's words.
Then he caught on.
"That Blood Gate has a mind of its own?"
Chen Jizhen nodded.
"Not just a mind of its own. It probably has... intelligence, too."
"Over the past few days, we've discovered several Blood Gate incidents..."
As Chen Miao listened to Chen Jizhen's account, alarm rose within him.
Over the past few days, the Administration had discovered eight Blood Gate incidents in total.
These eight incidents had occurred in eight unrelated locations across Great Xia, all far apart from one another.
And all eight shared one feature: they had nothing to do with yin cultivation!
The victims involved in the eight known incidents were all ordinary people. They were men and women, young and old, with no connection between their occupations.
The selection seemed entirely random!
Of those eight incidents, six of the people involved had already died.
And none of those six had been killed directly by the Blood Gate.
By questioning the two survivors and observing the other six victims, the Administration had learned that after entering the Blood Gate, they would appear in a place resembling ancient Great Xia. Their appearances would change, and they would become inhabitants of that place.
Then they would receive a "mission" related to a local supernatural incident.
Only after completing the mission could they leave that place and receive a reward from the Blood Gate.
If they failed the mission or died in that place, they could still return.
But after returning, they would die within a day through some kind of "accident."
These accidents included, but were not limited to, "car crashes," "sudden death," "drowning," and "choking."
All six deceased victims had died that way.
The Administration had tried intervening, but someone saved from a car
